In order to fly online I have to enter a squawk flightplan but obviously a flightplan has to be entered into the CDU as well.

 

How would you people handle that ? Entering a CDU flightplan and then enter the data into the squawk box flightplan ?

Or is there a way to make a CDU flightplan  and transfer those data automatically into the squawk box plan ?

 

Making two flightplans seems a lot of work and I wonder how you people go about it.

The best way to handle it would be to use a flight planning solution like SimBrief (free), PFPX, or similar. Those usually save to various formats, to include both PMDG and Squawkbox/vPilot (or they'll VATSIM prefile for you, which means you don't even have to enter the plan in via squawkbox/vPilot - it's automatically associated with your flight when you log in).

You could do it this way. I usually use the VATSIM Prefile option. Even SimRoutes had this option, and it's a rather old flight planning solution. This avoids having to mess with the SB or vPilot flight plan functions.

You can't make the CDU flight plan transfer directly, but you can use the above options to save the flight plan in the various formats so that you can import the flight plan into the CDU and load the other version into SB or vPilot.
