After engine shutdown

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

Quick question..

I know all of the planning ect and other things required to put the plane in the air..

I would like to know what else pilots do in the flightdeck after the engines are shut down. So what do the pilots have to do after the engines get shut down and the PAX are deboarding ect ? Mainly in the 737

Kind Regards,

Jack Dutton

Let's see:

-Say goodbye to the passengers.

-Pack up and get to the next airplane.

-Run to get lunch (if there's time).

-Run to operations, crew lounge/room, and bathroom before boarding.

-Talk to maintenance.

-Talk to gate agent.

-Set up the nest.

-Introduce yourselves to the flight attendants.

-Work through preflight paperwork and flows.

After the engines are shut down I run through the following flow:

Window heat off

Probe heat off

Engine anti-ice off

Electric hydraulic pumps off

Emergency exits lights disarmed

Isolation valve open

APU bleed open

Anti-collision lights off

Transponder to standby

While I am doing that the captain does his flow:

Seat belt sign off

IRUs off

Fuel pumps off, leaving one left main tank pump on if the APU is running

At that point you can run the parking checklist.  After that refer to Kenny's list above.
