December 16, 201411 yr Moderator Hey Keven - having an issue. Took a flight and I noticed that the effects were not the new ones. Took a look at the aircraft.cfg file for the /ac and altho there WAS a FSFX backup file in the folder, the effects were NOT installed in the cfg file. Manually deleted the fsfx backup file - reran FSFXP ( version .13) and selected rescan. After scan completed - there was no backup in the folder and there were no mods to the aircraft.cfg file. P3D24 - win7 - p3d installed in F:\P3D2 - FSX NOT installed. SOME of the a/c have the effects installed and some don't. Don't know why. Does FSFXp keep an internal table of modified files? December 16, 201411 yr Commercial Member Hi Vic, The P3D version of the installer does not modify aircraft.cfg files like it does with FSX. The effects enabled by this modification do not work on the P3D platform yet. What effects were you expecting to see? Thanks Keven Keven Menard Technical Director, //42.
December 16, 201411 yr Author Moderator Hmm - as I said, some of the cfg files were modified - they had an [effects] section added with, I think 4 entries all indicating FSFX files. I'm not at the system right now so I can't say for sure. What made me look - when I first installed the original product and flew in a snow storm, the effect was like small falling snowflakes. After a few updates to .13 the snow effect looks exactly like the "old" large streaks so I assumed it wasn't working. The rain effects are showing the same star trek tunnel effect as before. December 17, 201411 yr Author Moderator Well, I guess I'm losing my mind but I can NOT find any of those effects entries I saw earlier. Are there any specific files I can verify as being installed? I don't see any difference in rain/snow from earlier runs. EDIT: I tried a suggestion from another post - manually deleted and restored the rain and snow bmp files in textures. Ran - uninstall - got dialogs that backups could not be restored ( expected since I restored manually) - then reinstalled. Using ASN search function I went to airports with light, moderate & heavy rain and then snow - PrecipitFX worked as expected. Looks great again Thanx, Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160

If those files aren't present, it means that rain and snow textures were not installed. Let me know your situation Keven Keven Menard Technical Director, //42.
December 18, 201411 yr Author Moderator Keven - All is well. The files are where they are supposed to be and the rain/snow look fine. Still puzzled as to why I have aircraft.cfg backup files in the folders - assume it's because the code to install effects was there but disabled for now. Not a problem I would think.
