May 10, 200521 yr Hi Folks, Just installed Flight Scenery's Rhode Island package. One recommendation in the documentation is to try disabling this file by re-naming it:C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9Autogendefault.xmlThis works really well, with very large increases in frame rates on my system. But what effect will that have on the default scenery?Cheers,N. 11th Gen i9-11900K @ 3.5GHz | nVidia GeForce RTX 3080 | Corsair 64 GB RAM | Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB | Asus 27" RoG G-Sync Track IR5 | Thrustmaster Warthog | CH Products Pedals
May 10, 200521 yr None that I have ever seen. It only seems to have an effect on autogen scenery--removing the "cute" eye candy such as the fast food joints, etc... I can't see any of that stuff above a couple thousand feet anyway, so I never bothered to restore my default.xml file and have flown without it for a long time with no issues.-John
May 10, 200521 yr Yeah, you lose a part of the autogen 3D objects, of which I can't live without. Luckily the patch cured the "autogen bug", so it is just a matter of how many 3D objects you want displayed.Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/mcdcvabanner.jpgCalVirAir International Best, Michael KDFW
May 10, 200521 yr Yeah the patch has at least improved the situation even though those fast food houses still cause a much bigger framerate hit than you would expect.I keep my default.xml file enabled now. With my high-end system FPS is not a problem even with the overhead caused by the incredibly inefficently programmed autogen scenery. -
