FSXWX vs REX's Weather Engine

Featured Replies

Hello!

I've been hearing about the FSXWX freeware weather engine (http://www.plane-pics.de/fsxwx/home.htm) in the forums recently. I currently have REX Essentials + OD and use its weather engine. I would like to know how it compares with FSXWX if anybody has any experience with the two. And PLEASE don't bring up ASN. My computer is not the best and it would just kill my framerate .

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I dont use REX so I cant compare to that but I have used almost all other weather engines and I now only use FSXWX as it's simple and accurate. It uses it's own reporting stations and I think that makes all the difference. In combination with FEX textures it cant be beat IMHO.

Hmm. How's it performance-wise though? I'm getting tempted to download it

As with anything in FSX it depends on your system. It's free so if you have an issue just delete it. I run FSX at 4096 res and even in heavy weather there are no issues.

I'll see if I'll download it. I've seen the pictures on the website and the clouds seem to form more realistically than REX's engine. There's nothing to lose at least.
Thanks for your help!
