Uhg, I overwrote FSX effects folder with effets files from fs2004

Featured Replies

Hi guys.  Yeah, I am having problems loading any addon aircraft, the free ones, simple 737 aircraft, yet, I can load all the default fsx aircraft just fine.  When I trry to load a free one, like I download last night, a 737 700/800/900 pack, with various liveries, plus the newer 737 VC, I get to loading scenery, the classic 6% load, it then crashes fsx and fsx reboots.    This happens with all addon aircraft, like the free 777/200's, 787 and such, most 747's.  Some, I guess that use more default files, will load fine, like I downloaded the huge 747 livery pack, with like 30 liveries, and they will load fine and fly.

So I started deleting all the aircraft I have downloaded and happene to notice that a certain 777 I had downloaded said FS2004 ONLY.  I then looked at the install notes and it said to copy the effets in to the main fs2004 effects folder, so I obviously must have copied these fs2004 files in to my fsx effects folder.  I don't remember if they overwrote anything, but now only native fsx planes will load and a couple that must use mostly native effects files.  So when Iload others, fsc crashes to desktop (if I don't let it reload).

How can I get these 2004 files out of my effets folder, or find some original fsx effects files to overwrite those and put that back to normnal?  I don't want to have to reload fsx cause i have gone through setting up ezdok and everything, it would be miserable.  I just wanted some different liveries and would be happy if I could get a working 737/800 pack like I got with the 747 pack.

Any help?  Thanks

I can backup my effects folder, zip them and send them over if you want to

Thanks much.  Before we do that, I am now wondering if maybe I simply have too much addon scenery loaded.  I just downloaded a new Posky 777/300, and at first, it crashed fsx when I just tried to get it to the preview font screen.  Loaded FSX back up, this time it loaded to the preview screen, but when I trie to load it in to an airport it froze at 6% as usual and fasx crashed.  I have been loading an aweful lot of my older addon scenery not being sure I wasn't loading things I didn't need, and when I go in to scenery files there are an aweful lot of adons loading.  It makes sense that the original planes can load but some of the addons with many more graphics and such can't.  I think I will uncheck some of that scenery and see if the 777 will then load.  I'll report back.

No you can't. Those are copyrighted files.
