January 12, 201511 yr Hello everyone,I wanted to start learning how to write in XML, and I wanted to start off on what I believe is a simple method. I want to write an XML file that will create wingtip vortices in FS9 under the following conditions:- Temperature is within 5 degrees Celsius of the dew point- Winds below 20 knots- Angle of attack greater than 5 degrees- Speed less than 160 knotsI've got everything set up, now I just need to actually write the file. However, I have no idea where to begin or what I need to know. FS2004 Forever
January 13, 201511 yr Hi, Here are some good links: Look for textinfogauge40.zip here at avsim.net. There is a good document with XML tutorial. You have Simple Panel Design at http://simviation.com/1/browse-Panel Design-101-0 also a good tutorial.Blackbox3 is a wery nice tolls to test gauges, http://www.robbiemcelrath.com/fs/blackbox/download
January 17, 201511 yr http://www.fs2x.com/Tutorials.htm Note, there are two schemas, or styles of XML used to write FS gauges. "FS9" schema (actually, I believe the origin is FS2002) and "FSX" schema. FS9 works in FS9, FSX, and P3D and most people would say it is the simplest and easiest to write. FSX ("ACES") schema is not backward compatible in FS9. The XML format used in the tutorial linked above is FS9. Most XML gauge examples you find are FS9 format. The Flight Sim SDK is helpful too, if for no other reason than to list all of the flight sim variables and XML math and string operators. Here's the online versions provided when FSX came out. Variables and XML Gauges. Another good place to start is to study the XML gauges that ship with Flight Sim ... check out the Beech Baron. Our forum moderator, Bill Leaming, may want to add more here too ... he advocates use of the older FS9 schema. He's also answered the "Where are XML Tutorials?" questions way more than any other person on the planet. Bob
