January 13, 201511 yr I have probably installed some of this backwards but at the time when I installed these programs I thought I was doing it right. So back when I first started using FSX I installed FTX Global. I then came across a program called UTX-USA and installed that cause I did most of my flying in the USA. Now I have come across a program called GEX-NA or something close to that. Can I install GEX on top of UTX with FTX still being there? I am using the FTX night lighting so I really would like to keep that. Or is actually having UTX+GEX a big FPS hit? In other countries I actually get way higher FPS with just the FTX program so I know UTX puts quite the strain on my system I am just wondering if GEX is gonna hinder the system more or will it improve it? Another thing I thought of since I am looking for better FPS can I just uninstall UTX or is that super complicated? I have some very basic FSX tweaks and followed a nvidia inspector guide so I think I get decent FPS but I just feel like I should be getting more FPS with the system I have and that leads me to wonder what else I should look into tweaking or what programs I should think about not using? I have all my scenery settings to the right except auto gen is normal and water is 2.x High.
January 13, 201511 yr No, GEX and FTX Global do the same job, nice textures. I use FTXG and UTX together wuite happily. - Paul Elliott http://www.avsim.com/topic/450607-amy-johnson-london-to-australia-attempt/
January 13, 201511 yr Author No, GEX and FTX Global do the same job, nice textures. I use FTXG and UTX together wuite happily. Yea I like how they work together I just think there might be a better way to get more performance. Is there a guide to UTX that might help performance? I have looked at the options in the program but they are stuff I've never even heard of.
January 13, 201511 yr Author Ok so I tweaked Nvidia inspector again and bumped up the AA settings and managed to gain about 8-10 FPS. Now while running FSX my computer temperature went up to 79C and the GPU load went up to 55% when I looked at it in windowed mode. I have not seen the temperature get that high before or the GPU load get that high also. Is that temp and GPU load to high? I will say the SIM has NEVER looked as good as it did during my 15 min test flight. Never seen the sim that smooth before and even on takeoff at FSDT KDFW RW35L in the QW 757 where my FPS usually drops to 12-14 it stayed right around 18-19 with an occasional drop to 15 but it just seemed much smoother overall. After takeoff the FPS stayed around 23-24 with a drop to 20-28 once I was in the thick clouds that were around KDFW but again even in the clouds where I would see a drop to 15-17 normally in thick clouds like that I was astonished to see the FPS remain in the 20-28 range.
