Strange Joystick Button assignments problems

Featured Replies

I have the latest LINDA (2.5.7) but these problems were occuring before the upgrades.

1. Some assignments will not delete, even choosing "Do Nothing" they persist.

2. This is the REALLY annoying one: there are a couple of buttons with NO assignment but trigger an action when pressed.

For example, the BN Islander port fuel pump toggles whenever I press Saitek button 14. I reprogrammed it to tunn on the battery but it still toggles the fuel pump and has no affect on the battery.I checked these commands using the keyboard and they are standard FSX keypresses. I then tried programming the button by entering the key presses. They were displayed properly on LINDA Joystick page but still button 14 toggles the port fuel pump.

I deleted all entries in the LINDA Aircraft and .cfg folders but the "phantom key press is still active.

Each test was without any shift keys, SAVED after each new set of assignments, no joy.

I have been using LINDA since it was first released and ever had a problem with it. Naturally, I suspect that somehow my PC is somehow causing it.

I did install Steam a few weeks ago but used it only one day and backed up all configs and Modules folders before running it.

Any help appreciated.

Hi OldFlyBoy,

Sorry to hear about your problems.  Apart from the addition of the double-shift, nothing has changed in the way LINDA handles button assignments and presses.  Can I suggest you try a couple of things:

  • Make sure nothing is assigned in the FSX Default aircraft profile for the problem assignment.  The same goes for the FSX and FSUIPC.  Any of these will action causing you to be confused.
  • If the problem persists, please send me a copy of your config-hid.lua file for aircraft affected.

Thanks Scot

Just turned on PC and am loading FSX. Will try things out again. Maybe the restart will help clear things.

Will let you know

Update: First I loaded Majestic Q400 and followed my LINDA procedures (everything from battery on to ready for taxi). Worked flawlessly. Ditto for RealAir Dukes.

Then loaded the Flt 1 BN Islander and had the same goofy problems. Tried to remove all LINDA assignments and then reassigned via fsuipc. It worked for every assignment I tested. Strange.....

As for the assignments that refused to be removed: I just loaded LINDA without FSX running and was able to remove all the stubborn ones that would not leave otherwise.

Later today will give me time to test fsx  and see if those assignments STAY gone.

Btw....LINDA provides so much flexibility with the joystick page that I sold my MCP Combo II. Only time I miss it is when radios need tuning.

Hi OldFlyBoy

Thank you for the update. When you say that the assignments refused to be removed are you saying you could not clear them from the LINDA page or that the functions continued to operate with you Islander?  Some screenshots and copies of the config-hid.lua files in the /linda-cfg/aircrafts/{your aircraft}/ folder would help me? Just PM them to me.
