Flying the PC12 is problematic

Featured Replies

Hi all

I dont get along to well with this plane. Its very pretty etc, but one thing in its flying characteristics is annoying me a lot and so I dont fly it anymore.

Since I´m not in the mood for another throw away payware addon, I hope that I´m doing something wrong and that someone here can help me on the right track.

This plane goes up up up. With more than 170knots I cant trim it level. I end up with the elevater trim at max down trim and with more than 170kias it goes up.

It makes it annoying to handfly. And decents are very tirering when handflying.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Am I doing something wrong?

Is there an optional patch out there?

Andrés

Are you raising your flaps?

Andresico - sounds like you're flying with an aft c of g. I don't think Carenado's C of G diagram is all that accurate. Try to keep your weight evenly distributed both length and sideways, if not a little forward of center (not using the diagram - just look at your individual stations and what loadings they have).

I'm kind of guessing here as this could be a number of things, but I'd try that first. The PC 12 is one of the nicest flying airplanes I have so I suspect the problem is local and fixable.

Yes, I raise my flaps after take off. No need for flaps for ascending, it goes up like a rocket.

I have tried only loading the airplane with passenger in the front 2 rows, 40% fuel evenly distributed and nothing else. It still goes up when over 170 knots cruise/level flight with the elevator trim maxed down.

That is not normal.  If it were me, I'd try doing a reinstall of the aircraft.

Gregg, you were right, and I dont know why I didnt think about that myself. I did a uninstall, and a reinstall and now it works as I think it should. It will descent without having to push forward the yoke all the time and I can now fly level with 220knot with what I will call a normal elevator trim. I've only had time to fly it a little hour, so its still like all new, but the feeling is there and I think I will enjoy this plane a lot.

So thanks everyone for your input.
