Please help! My FSX takes 10 minutes to start up whenever I load the sim!

This happened to me when I had too many photo-sceneries enabled at one time only mine took about 20 minutes to get to the setup screen and another 20 minutes to load. You have to see what scenery you have enabled and maybe disable those that are not needed (photoscenery only - other scenery, like FSDT, FlightBeam, can all remain enabled as it won't be loaded unless you are going to be in that area).

 

As far as I know, there is no other scenery (other than photo scenery) that takes a long time loading. Nothing in your fsx.cfg or dll.xml could cause it not to load fast too.

Thanks for the reply, i don't have any custom sceneries installed and my NVDIA GTX 640 graphics card does not seem to work either, so laggy.

Well, if you video card is not working, then obviously you are going to have problems.  I'll move this to the hardware section and see if the experts down there can help.

I had this problem, a defrag seemed to sort it out. But in afdition, I was starting FSX as soon as my PC booted up and I could see my desktop. If I left the PC running for 10 -15 minutes, or so, to write up traffic files or something, then FSX loaded iup in half the time.
