May 28, 200521 yr Commercial Member Howdy,I just wrote up a quick read-me and will post the files as an attachment below. This attachment will disappear in a week or so; thus I also posted it at PAI here: http://www.flightsimmer.com/forums/showthr...5866#post325866Note: I haven't done any extensive testing on this and am as curious as anyone else whether this does indeed recreate the "string of pearls" effect when applied to multiple AI ;-) Cheers, Holger
May 28, 200521 yr This is a very interesting topic! I've always wondering something else about landing lights also. Most models ( including mine ) have the landing light beams shine several hundred feet in front of the plane. I'm not sure if that is too realistic or not. I've made the same mistake also on my previous models. The lights are sometimes too bright when looking down on the plane from spot view. Sometimes so bright ( on some models ) that they overpower the whole runway and all you see is the just the light.... you can't see the runway lines, or anything. Just as a note to designers, including myself: it would be great to tone down the landing light beams. You can do this by setting the opacity on the landing light materials to something less than 5%. Also point the beams downward so they don't shine over 500 feet in front of the plane. ;)I've made sure to fix this problem on my upcoming A330/340 models. And yes, if someone can solve the landing light problem while viewing the aircraft in the air, that would be great too! I'm not an effects expert but I am sure there is a way to tone down the nav lights and increase the size of the landing lights from a distance.
