May 29, 200521 yr I keep getting a hang on trying to save any selected environment choices. It happens when trying to save any desired changes and the message says "Copying Wave height files to flight simulator. This process will take a few minutes, please stand by." Well the status bar gets to 24% complete and stops. It never does save the situation. I uninstalled and re-installed the program to no avail. I did have FS Water before, and could not find any uninstall program for it. Does anyone have any advice? What I have seen of the program so far looks great - I just want to explore its options! Thanks Bill Gustafson
May 29, 200521 yr Hi Bill,For FSWater I do have an entry in my Windows Add/Remove Programs list. Might want to check there!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
May 29, 200521 yr Bill, uninstall FE and download the new one on the flight one site and reinstall, it's possible something got corrupted...
May 29, 200521 yr Author Thanks for your reply, however I really did look there, so just went back again and verified I do not have one. I am sure I re-installed it on this PC when I recently put a new hard drive in and re-installed everything! I might try to re-install FS Water again so I can uninstall it (perhaps I can delete it's register entry) I think this might be the source of my problem.Another thing I thought I might do is download a new Flight Environment Install wrapper.Bill G KSAT
May 29, 200521 yr Having FSWater shouldnt matter, if it's installed shouldnt make a differance, I'd redownload FE2004 off the flight1 site and reinstall...
May 29, 200521 yr Author Thanks for your suggestion, I will give that a try and post-back.Bill G, KSAT
May 29, 200521 yr Author I downloaded a new install file, made sure any old files from FE were removed after uninstalling the previous load via add/remove programs, and then installed FE again. I am still getting the halt at 24%. I immediately went to FE after my PC rebooted as part of the install and selected the save/install button I am very baffled as I do not have any other Flight Sim "issues". I am running win XP on a 2.8 Intel CPU, ABIT IS7 Mobo with 1Gim Mem, Audigy soundcard and ATI9800 video. The PC is only used for FS as I use the wife's for everything else. Does anyone have any other ideas? Thanks,Bill G - KSAT
May 29, 200521 yr when you uninstalled FE, did you also go into the flight1 folder in your main FS folder and delete all the FE folders as well? This is a step that should be done when deleting FE, if that doesnt work go to the flight one/FE support forum and see if Tom can get you going....I'll post this to Peter as well.
May 29, 200521 yr Author Its me again. Thanks, I did delete all the files in the Flight1 FE folders within the sim as well. I have been copying the original texture files fom the FS Cab folder on the CD to my Texture folder in the sim, and now have it up to 73% completing on a save. It is now halting on copying the "Sun" files. i have recopied those and the Corona file to teh hard drive but do not seem to be making any more progress. I hate to think about re-installing FS9 as I have it running pretty well. Bill G - KSAT
May 29, 200521 yr I had similar problem but not with FE but with Alaska/Canada roads. It turned out there was a conflict with someone else's optional textures I had installed before. It is possible you have installed before some other textures of cloud/sky,water etc. and this is what is causing trouble. I know, it can be very, very frustrating to track it down. Therefore right now I always keep the very original content of the FS9's both texture folders as a backup in case something like that happens. Restoring original textures usually solves the problem.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpg Michael J.
May 29, 200521 yr When installing fe2004 has anyone turned off the anti-virus program? This can cause a corrupted installation if your virus scanner is enabled during installation. Just a suggestion before I would look at anything else. Also be sure you do virus scan the exe if you are downloading and then disable during installation and play.
May 29, 200521 yr Author Thanks Michael,I think I will install FS9 on our other computer to be a source for restoring - such as this. I know I used some other texture and wave files which I copied over from my previous install. You are right - it is frustrating, but I really like what I see of FSE so far!
May 30, 200521 yr Author Thanks to your thoughts on this problem!! The cure was to copy all of the original textures back to the FS Textures folder. I made a temp install to the wife's computer first to use as a source (Sshh - don't tell her!)
