May 30, 200521 yr The PMDG planes! I'm considering buying a PMDG Beech and was wandering which is better, the D or C series? Also I was thinking of buying S-combo and see there are some other alternatives to this kind of addon utility. What works best with a PMDG plane?I really like the simplicity of S-Combo and the Cabin announcements but not sure is theres something better out there.Any help would be appreciated!Kilstorm
May 30, 200521 yr I don't have the D, but I love the C. The RealAir SF260, DreamFleet A36 and the PMDG 1900C get the vast majority of my simming time. It is my understanding the gauges and VC are much improved in the C. I can tell you they are very smooth, even in the VC. They are the next best thing to what Real Air has done in their Spitfire and SF260. The C has better VC lighting. The C also has two cargo versions included. I have installed the Reality XP Jet Line 2 gauges and 530 GPS in one of my models for when I want to fly a more updated cockpit. The default C uses steam gauges while the D uses more of a glass cockpit. For what its worth, a good review of each plane was done by Avsim. Check the reviews section.I have Flight Deck Companion, which I understand is an upgrade over S-Combo. The FDC forum is right here at Avsim. It is a very good program, and would work great with the PMDG once you set up some performance files. That said, I have been using FS Flight Keeper. I like the black box function which records my flights. It gives me incentive to finish a flight as it gets logged. It also saves a map of your flight-path with events tagged to it, so I can go back and look at flights in the future. Starting at version 2.5, FS Flight Keeper includes a cockpit ambiance feature. Announcements are played by the cabin crew, you get call-outs by your co-pilot and so on. FDC is a more hardcore program, but most of the time I don't want to go through a check list and everything. I just want to throw a few switches and fly. As I am running Flight Keeper anyway, I just use its announcements. Flight Keeper will work out of the box, so to speak, and FDC will take some effort to configure to the PMDG. I don't know if there is demo for FDC, but there is a full demo available of Flight Keeper.Tony
May 30, 200521 yr If you are only buying one, get the C series. It is an improvement over their (also excellent) D series B1900.Both versions are in the Avsim Reviews section.. Bert
