I was advised against the 4960X because FSX and variants do not take advantage of hyperthreading and the 4790K would actually perform better, and since I don't play games it has been a good build so far.  Otherwise, I am sure either option will exceed the system recommendations that PMDG provides at their web site.... you checked that already, right?

Yeah i have. I use other add ons such as airports, orbx. Was thinking the 4790k would be able to handle that better.

Not using FSX, FSXSE or P3D.... maybe P3D might expand their ability to use such system resources after migration to 64b but not before then... say 3-5 yrs?
