I suspect that running the ASconnect installer would have saved you time and effort.  Now we'll never know.

it happened again!..and I followed your suggestions to run ASconnect installer but it didn't help. What I finally did was exit ASN and then reset the flight (I was midair) and then reconnect ASN, Everything went back to normal.
