February 11, 201511 yr Hi: when I get CTD's I get files with the extension ".dmp" are generated instead of .log files. What are they and how do I read them? Thanks,Dave
February 11, 201511 yr Moderator They are memory dumps and can be used by programmers to find out why your program crashed. Generally when reporting a bug to Laminar, you should also give them the .dmp file to help them figure out what went on
February 11, 201511 yr Author OK; Thank you very much. Just curious though; why would I not get a .log file for my CTD as well?
February 12, 201511 yr Moderator X-Plane does produce a log file (log.txt) in your X-Plane folder, but it's overwritten each time you startup X-Plane. If X-Plane crashes, you should see the log for any clues (Often there isn't anything in to help CTDs anyway).
