As one of the unfortunate ones that was going to wait till payday Friday to purchase Bill's Tripacer package, I just wanted to say a "thank you" (Yes that's a sarcastic smart A** remark) to those of you who, either here on the AVSIM forums, or thru email attacks to Bill himself caused him to feel like he had to shutdown all sales and design operations. As someone who has suffered thru the "blood, sweat, and tears" and long hours of developing an aircraft to release to the flightsim community, it can get quite frustrating to get rather immature attacks from people who demand you fix this or that, improve this part of it immediately, etc. Before anyone gets offended and takes it personally at what I just said, please note there is a difference between constructive criticism/suggestions and blatant immaturity. I'm sure that Bill is the type of guy that would listen to constructive criticism and use it to improve his products if he feels the need to do so. Apparently from reading his post on the Golden Eagles forum he was receiving everything but constructive criticism."Frankly, I'm getting tired of these "developer-meltdowns" Quoted from another post here. While I haven't had a meltdown resulting from releasing my Starduster, I supervise people day in and day out in my job that do nothing but complain. After hearing "I don't want that" , "Why can't I go this route rather than the other route", "Don't you have anything else?" in excess of 40 times a day, I can certainly relate to these "developer-meltdowns" Sure I get "thank you" sometimes but unfortunately the bad always seems to outweigh the good that happens. "I saw Bill's comments about "a horrible thread in the free for all cesspool they call a forum at avsim"(sic), but I cannot believe how he can remove the aircraft based on the comments made in this thread, which I found friendly for the most part. Isn't it allowed to discuss anything openly anymore and call one addon better than another?" Also quoted from the previous post I referred to.Unfortunately Bill is right though, I have seen post after post here escalate to a free for all before the mods step in. Ok, I'm off my soapbox now...Darrell

Glad you're off your soapbox.Personally I think your comments pretty selfish in nature. Bill's comment--given the praise I and others who call this our home forum give his work--wasn't warranted given the content of the thread in question. Both comments you quote came AFTER Bill made his remark in his home forum. The thread in question had NOTHING in it that warranted a mod stepping in, although your thread does appear meant to yell fire in a crowded theater and I smell a lock coming real fast. Most certain, if Bill reposts his projects, he will have generated quite a bit of sales because of his fit of "frustration". What surprises me is, if you truly care about his work, why didn't you take the time to comment vs. my screenshots of his Challenger in the screenshots forum here? Funny thing is, the mods usually do and bump up the free press I've been giving Bill's work--very few others comment on my screenshots. I guess it's only a cesspool when you forget about those who help the product along, eh?Off my soapbox...-John

Darrell, show me a negative post in that thread towards Bills work before this happened, there isn't one! I am sorry you didn't get the Pacer, but from what I have read there is NO logical reason for it being withdrawn based on comments here, negative or otherwsie. If he got a load of nasty emails from the "gimme, gimme" crowd, then that is another thing, but don't come in here blaming AVSIM forum users for the actions of others, it isn't fair.I am a big supporter of all Bills work and have bought quite a bit of it, so I feel I have the room to talk. I read on his forum a quote about lumping himself in with the likes of Dave Eckert, who brought on all the grief he encountered himself. I really hope this isn't another "agenda" against AVSIM, as I am growing tired of it.We should all take a break and go fly or try another hobby for awhile!Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/mcdcvabanner.jpgCalVirAir International

That is sad Darrell. I'm glad I got my beautiful "custom" Tripacer yesterday. Seems as though some people just have a lot of venom for anyone who does payware. Just because you give someone a few dollars does not give you the customer the right to treat the person or company you gave the money too like less than a human being. A company large or small is still made up of people just like You and I who are trying to make a living. Nobody likes to have their hard work dismissed or worse yet trashed in public. The golden rule would go a long way toward civility in this or any forum.WillP.S. before anyone jumps on my "few" posts I've been a member for years and my old handle is wills402. I'm older than 42 now though ;)

Sorry I disappointed you and didn't post praise upon praise for them.I guess I do care for and appreciate his work, I've purchased every one of his releases to date except for the Goose, Apache, and Golden Hawaii, and I chose simply not to purchase them because those planes were of no interest to me, either in flightsim version, or real life.I don't feel my comments were selfish in nature at all. It just upsets me that a few "bad apples" have to ruin other people's fun and enjoyment.Darrell

'Unfortunately Bill is right though, I have seen post after post here escalate to a free for all before the mods step in."Seems you are one of the few (in fact, I've seen only one other poster who shares your perspective) who want to escalate this discussion into "a cesspool" by attacking this forum. As for folks who might have sent him rude e-mails... sorry, but it takes all kinds to make the world go around (you're proof of that). Knowing that Bill is a true gentleman, my hope is that he pulled the package in order to tweak the FD and will return it to the marketplace soon.Hopefully your useless thread will be locked down soon. Nothing but troll bait that sevres no one, especially Bill and his fine efforts.Greg

nobody came anywhere even close to dismissing or trashing Bill Lyons work in public. Please, please deal with reality. The thread in question contained almost NOTHING but high praise for the Tri-Pacer. All of the unpleasant posts occured after the package was removed and Avsim was blamed. The only remotely critical comments made about the Pacer where in reference to what seemed like some overly jaunty performance capabilities. Nobody insisted that anything be fixed immediately. Nobody made any reference to being dissappointed by the package or to wanting their money returned. If Bill feels that he needs a break then I completely understand, but to blame the thread here at Avsim is just not right.

Uh...on a lighter note: Darell, have you made any progress on that Cessna 170 you were doing? :D (Sorry about the thread hijacking, sorta...felt it couldn't hurt to divert to a more pleasant topic, and I wanted to ask Darell about that while his attention was focused.)

For everyone's reference, the thread in question is here:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...d=257307&page=1I recieved no alerts or complaints on this thread, and I just re-read it and I cannot see any problems with it. As of the time of this post, that thread has not been locked and no posts have been deleted or edited by any moderators.

Thanks, Ken."...that thread has not been locked and no posts have been deleted or edited by any moderators."Which proves Zev's point quite nicely.Greg

Something to consider: There are 22557 registered members at the AVSim board. There are currently 37 posts to the Tri-Pacer thread, some which are multiple posts from the same persons. So it does seem a bit unfair to pull the whole product (and all previous releases) for those 22520-ish people who didn't even say anything. If Bill needs a break he has every right to take one, though. At the rate at which he's been releasing quality aircraft lately I can understand if he does need a break. I'm sure (or, I hope anyway) he'll make the Tri-Pacer available again once he's had a couple of days off, though, because it really is a very good addon. I'd prefer an annoucement to give people some early-warning and allow them to complete their collection before shutting down the site. In that case, I'd get the Goose and Silvaire right away :-lol

Hello CWD.. I have made some more progress on the 170. I'm having trouble getting the gauges to look "correct" on the panel and still trying to work thru that one :) As for those of you I have apparently upset, I apologize. Please notice in my original post I said "either/or" when referring to the AVSIM forums or email as the source of the apparent "bad apples." I never meant to call out any one source over the other. I have never had any problems with anyone here, but as reality has it, I have seen a few "negative" threads in the past. Not necessarily in the thread in question though. All in all I along with a few other people have had a bad day today and seeing everything that had transpired this evening sort of put the "icing on the cake." so to speak.Darrell Edited to add:I also came into this late as I don't have time to monitor the forums during the day, and did not know that all the bashing and trashing started after the package was pulled.

This thread is being locked - I may unlock it in the morning. Frankly, since no one is capable of having civil discussions about any topics on these boards lately, and that people get offended even at the few civil discussions, it will stay locked. It's getting rather pathetic, isn't it? Ah, the hubris....Anyone wishing to discuss this can email me.
