June 8, 200520 yr I have Holger Sandmann's AI Ships installed with the Misty Fjords scenery, but cannot get them to display properly. I realize that the difference between FS9 and FSNav coordinates listed below are relatively insignificant. I have tried moving the Misty Fjord Scenery to the top of my library. If I move my aircraft to Airport/Go To Airport ID PAK5, named AI Cruise Ship Island Princes, I am located at N55deg 4.56min W131deg 8.20min and find no ship. In FSNav, my aircraft is located at N55deg 4.53min W 131deg 8.20min. There is a location marker there which has no text. Adjacent to it at N55deg 5.08min W131deg 6.62 is another marker however, which is includes the AI Cruise Ship Volendam PAK6 ships title. No ship is visable anywhere in the area. When I move my aircraft to Airport/Go To Airport ID PAK6, named AI Cruise Ship Vanlendam (above locations name) my location is N55deg 44.04min W131deg 21.72min. I have a marker with no text in FSNav located at N55deg 44.02min W131deg 21.71min. I also have a ship displayed at N55deg W132 21.55min but it definitely is a cargo vessel, not a cruise ship (Sat my aircraft on top of the Radar Antennae). The location is just west of 84K Meyers Chuck Seaplane Base and North of the yascy intersection. When I move my aircraft to Airport/Go To Airport ID PAK7, named AI Cruise Ship Clione I am located at N55deg 26.34min W130deg 56.51min. I again have a marker in FSNav without text at N55deg 26.32min W130deg 56.51min about half way between DMSO Snowy Owl and HSR1 the Hugh Smith Ranger Station. No ships are displayed. When I move my aircraft to Airport/Go To Airport ID PAK8, named AI Cruise Ship Clione 2 located at N55deg 7.37min W131deg 33.30min. There is a marker in FSNav just southeast of the MTM Metiakatta Seaplane base. There is a second text adjacent to the marker believed to be supposedly the cruise ship also labeled MTM Metiakatta. The coordinates are N55deg 7.33min W131deg 33.27min. Located some 13 miles Northwest, there is a PAK8 AI Cruise Ship Clione 2 text just North of the PAKT Rwy 29 approach near the runway. There are two cruise ships displayed just Northeast of this location but I somewhat doubt that either is the AI ship in question.Has anyone else had this situation, or possibly can shed any light on the subject? Thanks:RTH
June 8, 200520 yr Hi RTH,There is a Misty Fjords Support Forum here: http://forums.simflight.com/viewforum.php?f=159Maybe you can ask it there and Holger himself will probably answer you. :)hm
June 8, 200520 yr Commercial Member Howdy, there's been a few people who had difficulties spotting the ships. The easiest way to check whether the AI ships are set up correctly is to use Ctrl-W and Ctrl-Shift-W (in Spot View) to cycle through the active AI in the area. The reason why you can't find the ships in the manner you describe is that their start position and the (invisible) runway are many miles apart. My approach to AI ships has the AI vessels taxi from their "gate" to the runway on an invisible taxiway that can be 40 miles or longer. This way I reliably control the movement path of AI vessels. Thus, when you start a flight at the "active runway" of one of the AI "airports" you'd have to wait for at least an hour before the ship reaches that spot. Alternatively, if you start your flight at that "airport's" single gate you'll occupy the ship's start position and it won't show up. The Misty Fjords manual contains some verbal descriptions of the positions and routes of the ships, which should help you finding them. The alternative is to download the FS Traffic Toolbox SDK - http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimul...sdk.asp#traffic - which contains two utilities (Explorer and Map View) that allow you to select any active AI to determine its status and position.Hope that helps.Cheers, Holger
June 9, 200520 yr Author Holger:One last question if I may. Should the AI ships show up on AI Radar? Thanks:RTH
June 9, 200520 yr Commercial Member Hi there,it depends whether the AI Radar is set up to depict AI on the ground (the ships only taxi) as well as those in the air. What AI radar system are you using?Cheers, Holger
June 9, 200520 yr Author Hello again Holger:I don't really remember my source, but I am sure you are right. It does not show any AI Aircraft on the ground either. Thanks again:RTH
