How to reconnect VORLOC after autopilot is disconnected

Featured Replies

I did a flight using the autopilots to do an auto-and.

For whatever reason the autopilot got disconnected while I was an approach.

I then hoped to simply reconnect the auto pilot again and activate VORLOC and APP in order to land.

For whatever reason it did not work.

Any explanations ?

Thanks

...sounds like you busted the sheer pins by either moving your hardware before disconnecting the autopilot, or the hardware sending a large enough spike. If this happens, remember you have two autopilots. I would also have a look at your hardware calibration as well.

so if I understand you correctly it should be possible to reactivate VORLOC and APP and then continue the autoland ?

Thanks

If you use the autopilot that hasn't had the pin sheared, yes. Also, it's not required to use LOC first, then APP, depending on the SOP you're following.

I am always amazed about your knowledge !

How do I know if the autopilot has the pin sheared ??? I did some search on Google etc but could not find any answers.

Thanks again

The autopilot won't connect.

If one doesn't connect, try the other. It's like keys in a door. You put one key in. It doesn't work. Try the other.

Reading the intro manual would have given you this knowledge, too.
