losing one throttle

Featured Replies

HiI have a strange problem and hope someone can help!At some point in my flights with whichever plane I fly I lose control over one of the throttles; ie on a twin engine plane when I try to use the throttle only one engine responds - the other remains at the setting it was on.It is beginning to be very annoying and I don't understand why it is happening.Welcome any adviceThanksJohn

Sounds like you are accidently hitting the E key at some stage during the flight, which can result in single engine selection (even if you don't press a corresponding engine number). Simple solution is to delete, or at the very least change, the engine select key assignment (options->controls->assignments - Engine (select)). I personally have deleted the assignment. BTW you can get all engines to respond again if what happens to you actually happens again and you do want to keep the E key assignment. Just hit E then 1 and 2 in quick succession to reselect both engines again. Unfortunately, this method can be a bit hit and miss, which is why I ended up deleting the engine select assignment in the first place.Gary

Many of us have disabled the E key setting. Can't think of one good reason to keep it and it has caused me a few problems during the years.

The "E12" or "E1234" may not work if you have one of the many addon panels that have misbehaving gauges that interfer with multi-key user inputs. In that case, to regain control you can send a "Reload user aircraft" command and that will do it. I do not disable the "E" commands as one reply here suggested as I find selecting single engines for control useful when trying to taxi an aircraft such as a Super Connie, and L-188 or P-3 in close quarters. Cranking up an outboard engine will get you turning a whole lot quicker in a shorter space than all engines rev'ed and nose wheel turned. I actually have "E1" "E2" E3" E4" "E12" E23" E34" and "E1234" programmed on one of my X45 throttle multi-position buttons. Paul
