Major CD Problem

Featured Replies

Im in need of help. A few months ago i removed Flight Sim 2004 from my computer. Recently i had a change of heart and decided to reinstall it. But everytime i try to insert the CD, it doesnt autorun, and instead comes up with a message saying:"Setup was unable to find (or could not read)the language specific resource dll, unable to continue. Please reboot and try again."I've looked at the Microsoft help site, and followed their advice, but it hasnt helped. Google hasnt helped. Apparently the root of the problem is a file on CD1 of FS2004 called setupenu.dll.Has anyone else had this problem, and if you have, how can it be solved? Thanks for any replies, its a very annoying problem which is making it impossible to play the game.

I would go to explorer and find the setup.exe and just double click on it to install, instead of waiting for autorun. Also check the condition of your CD pull it out of the drive and wipe it with your shirt to remove smudges or debris. If that doesn't work, than I would order a new CD. If you can't find explorer in the start menu, then go to Start ---> Run ---> then type in "explorer" no quotes.Jeff

Unfortunately I cant run the setup at all. If I try to open the setup.exe it comes up with the same error. I can explore the CD, just not install the game. I'm not convinced its a cd problem since it seems to be only one file thats affected (i can copy every other file from the cd to the harddisk) and that one file is setupENU.dll. Also, it unfortunately appears that the CD replacement only applies to the US and Canada (im in Britain.) Thanks for the replies so far, this problem is really puzzling.BTW im going to send an email to the Microsoft Technical Support,to see if they have any suggestions.

Just an update.I finally got round to testing the game on another computer, and it turns out it was the cd.Thank you very much for the quick replies, theyve been helpful. Now all thats left for me to do is to contact Microsoft.
