  1. Good catch, Pete! For a couple of months I've been tearing out what little hair I have left trying to find an answer. Tried all the suggestions in all the forums with no joy. With MSFS otherwise working fine in flying the planes and displaying the scenery, it might never have dawned on me that it has a data functionality toggle in the Options menu that somehow got turned off. Also solved the Marketplace unavailable problem. This one should be pinned!
  2. My ISP suggests applying for a static IP address. It's usually reserved for business clients, but they do make exceptions. John
  3. Many thanks, Piotr and Alex. Today I have egg all over my face, as the same connection procedure that has failed repeatedly for a week now worked perfectly. Must have been a temporary network glitch. One odd thing, however, instead of the usual 192.168.x.y, ipconfig shows my laptop on 10.0.x.y and desktop on 100.0.a.b, both assigned dynamically by my ISP. The name of my Wi-Fi network shows correctly on both computers. I will hang on to and study the nmap tool for future use. In the meantime, I am thoroughly enjoying the amazing features of Little Navmap! Thanks again, and best wishes to you both, John
  4. Trying to establish a network connection between a desktop sim computer and a laptop map view client. I keep getting timeout errors, using what I think is the connection method described in the User Manual. The desktop is running Windows 11 Pro with LNM version win64-2.8.11. Littlenavconnect and MSFS are both running on the desktop, with LNM on the laptop. A flight is selected, sitting on the runway with the engine running. The data base files are copied to the laptop. The firewalls on both computers are set to allow littlenavmap.exe and littlenavconnect.exe from their respective location paths. As I have run out of ideas, any advice would be most welcome.
  5. Applies to all 3 variants, valid through March 23, 2023. John
  6. Check out this earlier topic: www.avsim.com/topic/291995-atis-removal/ John
  7. I've had better luck with a web filter like Blue Coat K9 or OpenDNS, both free. Seems logical to me that blocking access to malicious sites makes more sense than trying to defeat an attack or clean up afterwards. Also, like Jim says always keep the firewall active. John
  8. Have you tried the free FltPlan GO app? play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fltplan.go&hl=en John
  9. Recall that when FSX came out, very few PCs had the horsepower to give decent performance. My guess is MS decided the trike, being the least demanding default aircraft, would give the most favorable first impression to users. And in-flight in a remote area had better frame rates than a major airport. John
  10. Adam, that's normal. Control Panel shows only the latest FSX mod installed. In my case it lists "Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Acceleration". If you have SP2 instead of Acceleration, that's what will show up. As you uninstall mods, the underlying layers will appear. Uninstalling Acceleration I would probably see SP1, and after that, FSX itself. Like peeling an onion. John
  11. Using FSUIPC per this link. Have not personally tried it. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/385544-accessing-panel-windows-above-9/ John
  12. This is a really intriguing question Guenter. My first WAG would be to take the .mdl file for your aircraft and use it as a library object which could be placed at any location by one of the standard methods like Whisplacer or the FSX Object Placement Tool. However, that might be too complex of a model for a static object and create a huge frame rate penalty. Your best bet is to ask an expert over at fsdeveloper.com, specifically Arno Gerretsen in the scenery design forum. Let us know what you find. John
  13. ORBX CRM has improvements to KBOI plus just about every other airport and back-country strip in southern Idaho. ORBX PNW came out with a free Portland pack that greatly enhances the downtown area and has some fixes for KPDX. Also see James Udall's Utah Complete files in the library (uc_update1_2.zip). He reworked KSLC and several of the larger Utah airports. John
  14. Not necessary to pay a dime for quality disk imaging software. DriveImage XML does a great job for free and also supports restoration of just individual files/folders if desired. It has saved my bacon several times. www.runtime.org/driveimage-xml.htm John
  15. You don't just press the button, but continue to hold it while you set the pitch. And you need to hold it until airspeed and altitude have stabilized in cruise, or in the case of climb\descent until airspeed and rate of climb have stabilized. I use the brake button, as it does not conflict with anything in flight and is right under my finger on the joystick. RealTrimX is one of the apps I would not fly without. John
  16. Stan, the Lear panel fix may be this one in the library: http://library.avsim.net/search.php?SearchTerm=learjet_45_enhancements.zip&CatID=fsx&Go=Search As for the Metzger FDEs, PM me. John
  17. If you like real aeronautical charts (sectionals, IFR hi\lo enroute, etc.), try BlueSkyScenery's moving map display tool. Free, and also has AI and weather overlays. John
  18. For more info on autogen + photoscenery, see these links: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/381547-adding-autogen-to-photoreal-scenery http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?s=ed1a13339d123be3ee7f7ba353ef5da7&t=98082 http://flightsimaviation.blogspot.com/2012/05/adding-autogen-automatically-to-fsx.html John
  19. Bob, I've found that if you are in the cockpit, the effect is often out of view with the FX Tool. Easiest way to find it is to go outside into locked spot view and pan around. If it's a continuous effect like a waterfall, you should see it. But a one-time effect like a flash may be hard to locate. John
  20. Nice! Especially if they can get it to work in AI mode, it will be a great addition to low and slow exploring in ORBX country. John
  21. Can you elaborate, Bill? I have FS9 but not the FS9 EVP. What am I missing in the FSX EVP by not having the FS9 EVP installed? John
  22. Senior (65+) discount of 20% on both download and boxed Orbx products at FlightSim Store. http://www.orbxsyste...fss-initiative/ John
