February 26, 201313 yr Commercial Member That would actually be a really good add-on, not sure how it could be done though.... It could be done in theory. However, what Microsoft did with the voice pack for FS9 was a hard act to follow. So hard that they simply kept the same ATC when moving to FSX. Microsoft had both the will and the financial clout to get 10 in-house (very passionate) guys to read a script containing among other things 25000 airport names,...etc. No wonder nobody else took the challenge. Doing it for one voice is tedious enough. And you can't just add the new voice to the mix. You'll have to replace the whole *.gvp voice pack. To make it interesting you'd need to have 10 voices or more in the pack. No wonder no one is up for the challenge. Gerald R https://www.multicrewxp.com
February 26, 201313 yr It doesn't change the voices, but it gives you a whole load of options to enhance or change the phraseology in the default ATC voicepack. found here http://www.editvoicepack.com/ "If you can't solve and equation with calculus, you're not using enough calculus" - A wise friend
February 26, 201313 yr Moderator MS/ACES released an ATC_Voicepack SDK for FS9 (FS2004). As Gerald said above, they made no changes for the FSX release. It's actually far more complex than Gerald hinted at though; each "voice" required ~67,000 separate .wav files that had been 'marked' with start/stop flags. Worse still, although the "SDK" was (and still is) free, the program required to properly 'mark' the .wav files isn't free, nor is it inexpensive... That said, the best alternative to enhancing the sim experience is to use EditVoicePack. Unfortunately, the FSX version of EVP has never been completed, so one must have FS9 and the FS9 version of EVP installed to obtain the full benefits of the features offered. Fr. Can you elaborate, Bill? I have FS9 but not the FS9 EVP. What am I missing in the FSX EVP by not having the FS9 EVP installed? John
