300ER's MZFW

Featured Replies

This is to PMDG itself and those who fly the -300ER. It seems there are two MZFW's floating around out there. Boeing's website, most generic aircraft spec sites, and the PMDG panel and .cfg file have 524.000 Lbs. While PMDG's own documentation and an official EASA technical document has it set at 529.000 Lbs., which leads me to believe that there is a higher ZFW option on either later models, or as a paperwork spike. As I fly solely long haul, I want to change it to 529000 pounds. It is easy enough in the cfg file. The question becomes; Will it modify the limit within the FMS logic or maybe screw up something if I change the value in the config file?

It'll probably screw something up. Generally not a good idea to go messing with files.

Point taken, 524,000 it is ;-)

Whilst acknowledging what Kyle says, I also see no reason why you couldn't load up to 529,000lbs (even if the cfg file limit is 524,000).

Most (not all) of the time these increased/decreased ZFWs/MTOWs etc are purely paperwork exercises: pay Boeing some extortionate fee, and they'll give you a piece of paper that says your MZFW is now 529,000lbs, with little or no modification to the airframe structure or equipment.

Unless the FMC will refuse to accept a ZFW entry of >524,000, I see no reason why it should affect the operation of the aircraft.
