BTW - I just installed a few days ago and I love it! Mobile Bay and Gulf Shores finally look like what I see out the window! Thanks guys!

Big update coming in the "service release" for Mobile, Ken. Stay tuned! Also, we have a guy on our team who has had a lot of experience with Fly Tampa's stuff...I hope he'll reply to the last post...

I am a FF Florida beta tester, and had Fly Tampa's Miami installed prior to going through phases of the beta leading up to the FF Florida release. Before continuing with details of my installation, please let me say up front that I have not experienced any major problems with Fly Tampa's Miami and FF Florida. I also have US Roads installed. My first suggestion is to verify how your Scenery.cfg file is set up.Actually, prior to installing FF Florida, I found that Fly Tampa's Miami wiped out the city lights and MSFS Miami photo scenery surrounding the field for about a half mile in any direction, which I immediately chalked up to layering (FT Miami being "higher," or installed after the MSFS Miami "default." I mention this because I have all the FF Florida files installed "above" FT Miami. US Roads are in between. They work seamlessly together, and all roads and lights surrounding KMIA are visable again, as well as the FF Florida bridges (if you have US Roads, do not activate the FF Florida roads, and de-activate default roads). In any case, I find having FF Florida above FT Miami, FT Tampa and also SimFlyers Orlando works fine for all three. Bottom line, keep the FF Florida files above the add-on airports and keep the add-on airports above all default files. My second suggestion is to review your Display settings. This would be true for FT Miami with or without FF Florida. I have found that with all add-on airports, especially SimFlyers, the display settings are critical in terms of delays in texture loading or blurs. Departing from any Miami runway eastbound my frame rates drop slightly with FT Miami, with or without FF Florida, but not worse with FF Florida. It usually takes 2-3 seconds for the ground to snap into focus, either day or night climbing a Level-D 767 off Rwys 8R, 9 or 12. At the gate or taxiing, perhaps because of my layering, my tires and those of all AI aircraft are properly positioned. The terminal and bulding textures, the grass and runways also have a 2-3 second "snap in" delay but stay in focus once there. I set as much as possible medium or high but find the the mip-mapping is critical to keep at least at "5" or "6" for soem reason. The delays don't bug me so much. With SimFlyers KJFK and default New York, the textures almost never uniformly kick in. I do have over 1mg in RAM and a 256 video card, so that may make a difference, too. But fiddling with the settings and going for sharper focus helps. Display/Scenery:Scenery Complexity: Extremely denseAutogen Scenery: Your preferenceTerrain Mesh Compelxity: 100Terrain Texture Size: High Display/Hardware:Mip-Mapping: 5 (or above)Global-Max Texture Size: MassiveI set FPS to 25 and get 15-20 on the ground at KMIA or in the air up to 4,000 feet over the city/bay in good weather, up to 25 with no weather, or down to 10-15 in heavy clouds or t-storms.Departing or arriving west of Miami over the Everglades, textures, fps, etc. are much faster, cleaner and sharper, especially at night in the pitch black (a very realistic enhancement of FF Florida is the stark contrast between the lights of SE Florida and the Glades, like approaching islands over water, with resulting visual challenges). Of course, that makes sense. So I have had some trade-offs but nothing approaching your challenges. I hope that this helps and I'm sure some of the other, more knowledgable FF Florida people can help further. Check out the FF Florida site and the help topics.

Thanks, Ill give all of this a try. I have a gig of ram too but only 128 on my video card. Im gonna bump up to 512 on my next card im gonna add to this Dell 8300.Can you or any one suggest a card that works flawlessly with fs2004?Thanks againjim

Jim, I haven't the expertise to recommend a card nor could I guess what would work flawlessly, if anything. I found getting RAM up over 1 meg was important for performance and getting a 256 ATI card was also important, although it was a serious pain to get set up because my desktop has a built-in Itel video driver. What a horrible experience that was! I am sure there are others that will read this who have the bona-fides to give you appropriate recommendations.

Ken Salter-Where do you fly out of? I was in Mobile 1987-1997 and flew a C150 and C182. I'm looking forward to the update as I have a scenery that uses Brookley and Dauphin Island. It was a great area to fly low and slow.

I hate to be a pain and thanks for all of the info. The funny thing is if I start or create a mode at KMIA of KFLL the scenery is still strange but I go to my start mode then move to FLL or MIA all is fine and the frame rates are better too.I still have sinking AI wheels at KMIA and my plane is really kicking up the pavement and sparks as I taxi. What can I do about this, I played with the AFCAD raising and lowering the airport 2 feet here and there but nothing changed. I have no progressive TAxi as well .What do you do to correct this?ThanksJim

So, what you're describing is an elevation problem - we have no land elevation data (or mesh) at all in FREEflow florida. The only thing we have that could be considered elevation is some fixed altitude water, like oceans are set to sealevel, but this should have no bearing on what you describe at miami. Is there any chance you've gotten two KMIA afcads in there? There's a utility in the library called ScanAFD if you don't have it already...really sounds like you've got something that forcing your runways to be lower than the mesh. It might also be that FlyTampa has their own afcad for Miami, and you've got one for a default scenery? FREEflow does not include an afcad for Miami...I might suggest experimenting a little. I would think the best combo would be to have FREEflow Florida BELOW flytampa's stuff, and the roads packages of any kind above both of these, but your mileage may vary!Best,sg

Nope like I said in your forum, Just the one AFCAD and I originally had Miami above Free Flow FL but I had the same effect. Gosh this has me baffled. I love yalls scenery and I might just live with it...(Not look at my aircraft while taxixing,,,HeHe...)This is just real puzzling...Jim
