June 20, 200520 yr Hello everyone. I recently downloaded the Freeflow Ultimate Florida scenery. In the read me files it mentions requirements such as trees by, ( I don't remember) and also recommends the water files. Can't I install it as is and have it work and look ok? Has anyone just done the default install? Thanks! Best regards, Jeff
June 20, 200520 yr There's a read me?? LOLGive it a shot, should be fine. if the trees are the GG trees pack, this is probably for a scenery in there. Water files will just enhance the water to add to the experience I would think. I have both installed as I hate the default water and many other sceneries use those trees. June 20, 200520 yr Thanks Michael, I guess I will get the additional files. I have FS Water, so I thought the water files might not be needed, but it can't hurt. I'll just back up before install. Thoses darn Read me files!! LOL... I am just being lazy today. Best regards, Jeff
June 20, 200520 yr Anyone getting anything that intermittantly looks like this is the Fort Lauderdale Airport area. I hear it reffered to as the "blurries"
June 20, 200520 yr I installed Garrish Gray's trees and also all of Toni Hiltunen's city sceneries. I did not install any of the suggested water textures as I have Flight 1's "Flight Environment" installed.I've also gotten the "blutries" in the Ft. Lauderdale area. There's quite a discussio about it on the FS-FREEflow forum. In my case, I just switched off the overcast and the textures cleared right up. I think there's just too many textures there for a video card to render eficiently.Jim

June 20, 200520 yr Hey all!The trees library by gerrish gray is a very popular addon, which you may already have installed for other scenery area. It's available here at AVSIM if you need it - without it, many of the tree objects in Toni's cities will show up as white boards. Replacement water textures are not required. The water textures are highly recommended as the default water textures are poor. Without *some* replacement set, you will not be able to appreciate the muddy inland water, nor the vibrant tropical waters, nor anything in between. I have never tried Flight1's product, but I'm sure they will work great! The blurries seem to be caused by some strange interaction with the AI boats. Disable the AI, and those textures pop right back. We're a bit stumped by it actually. Some of the AI ships we've included are superbly detailed models, but the blurries seem to occur very far from where those ships should be visible. On it's own, FREEflow Florida has only one custom texture (not including Toni's cities). It uses all stock FS9 textures, so it is not be any harder on your system than the default, just a whole lot more accurate! If anyone is experiencing "blurries" without the AI installed, please stop by our support forum and let us know! Thanks!sg [email protected] | 32gb RAM | EVGA GTX1080 8gb | Mostly P3Dv5 (also IL2:BoX, DCS, XP11)
June 20, 200520 yr >Has anyone just done the default install? Thanks!>Best regards, JeffI've done just the default install and am VERY pleased with the scenery. I live in Florida and am really enjoying VFR flying over familiar areas. I did experience the blurries described above but simply removed the 9 AI files in the world/scenery folder and that fixed it. I'll give up a few cruise ships and airboats to enjoy this outstanding work by the FS-Freeflow team.Bobby
June 20, 200520 yr Also, you might not have to give up all the ships - most users seem to think its specific to the tampa files. It's the darnedest thing - some of us have no issues at all, some with very high-end computers have the effect immediately. I thought it might be ATI-card specific, and that's still our best correlation, but at least one nVidia person has reported the problem too...We'll get it sorted out!Best,sg [email protected] | 32gb RAM | EVGA GTX1080 8gb | Mostly P3Dv5 (also IL2:BoX, DCS, XP11)
June 20, 200520 yr Commercial Member Hi Scott, those sudden blurries are probably related to texture format and mipmaps. In another project I'm involved with a single tiny texture sheet, saved as DXT1 without (!) mipmaps led to the same issue. When we converted that DXT1 to a DXT3 with mipmaps the blurries disappeared (a simple 32 or 8 bit bitmap format would probably work too).If the issue only happens for you in a specific area then this might give you a clue which ship(s) may be the culprit. I just did a quick check and have noticed that the cargo and tanker ships have DXT1 textures without mipmaps. Maybe try converting them as stated above?Cheers, Holger
June 20, 200520 yr Great tip Holger - we'll follow up on that! Thanks! That's why I love this place!Best,sg [email protected] | 32gb RAM | EVGA GTX1080 8gb | Mostly P3Dv5 (also IL2:BoX, DCS, XP11)

By the way, I have a high end video card , Nvidia GT6800 with 256 Meg. I am going to try and take out the AI for this scenery and see if that stops this problem which only started in the last couple of days ( I believe after I installed the AI, which I did not initially install when I installed the scenery. )
June 20, 200520 yr Bob, To answer your question from this morning, yes, my "blurries" looked exactly like your screenshot above.Jim
June 20, 200520 yr >Bob, >>To answer your question from this morning, yes, my "blurries">looked exactly like your screenshot above.>>Jim>Per a suggestion for the FS-free web site I placed all the Traffic_fffl xxx bgls in the world scenery folder in another backup folder and seems like the blurries disappeared. Might want to try that on your system and see what happens.
