Default FSX Sky Texture Problem

Featured Replies

So lately I have been experiencing a frustrating problem. When I start FSX with any aircraft at any location, all I see is an annoying repetitive sky. It's hard to explain, so I'll try my best- their is a grey sky background with strips of clouds repeating itself as I move my head in game. I have no clue what's causing it. It happens 75% of the time. Ever since I got the Ifly 737 NG, this has been occurring. Even before I purchased the plane it still happens. In the past months, I have reinstalled the game multiple times. What's strange is that the first time I installed FSX, I did not experience this problem.

I am running on an above average gaming laptop, with Windows 8.

Have you tried zooming in or out (hitting the + or - key)? Installing different aircraft will change the zoom levels in most cases and you have to zoom out for the proper prospective. You could also have a problem with your graphics card. If you are using the on-board graphics, that may be the cause.

Hi, and thanks for replying so quick.

So to start off, let me just say that I am not a computer guy, so I might get some things wrong. I have tried zooming in and out many times, but to no usefulness. What is interesting that I discovered is that if a press the esc key, which takes me to this pop up menu, and I repeatedly open that window, I would eventually have restored textures. Some buildings are still pitch black, but it's better than that annoying texture problem. This actually applies to all pop up Windows as well.

So like I said, I'm not a computer guy, but I'll try my best in telling you my PC specs-

I am operating on 64-bit Windows 8.

The processer is a Intel® Core i7-3630QM. CPU @ 2.40 GHz 8 CPU's, ~2.4 GHz

Memory: 8192MB RAM

DirectX version 11

NVIDIA Geforce GTX 660M. Current display mode- 1600 x 900 (32 bit) (60 Hz)

That's the most important specs I can gather. I would happily give more details if needed.
