PMDG B737 FS9 to FSX

Featured Replies

Hello..I am seeking advice on upgrading from FS9 to FSX

First of all  I am happy with FS9 and it works well  my main aircraft on FS9 is Level-D 767

I use PMDG737 on FS9 but wish to try 737NGX with FSX

The advice I seek is whether upgrading to FSX is worthit and whether my current specifications would do FSX justice (I am restricted with finance costs)

My current system is

Processor 5200+ 2.61Gh

4Gb Ram

GT 240 Graphics with  1Mb Ram

Monitor resolution 1280x1024 DVI (not wide screen monitor)

I have FSX software

I have 64 bit Windows 7 (have to install if decide to upgrade)

I would have to purchase B737NGX

Would my current specification run PMDG 737NGX and do it justice or  would I be struggling and best to remain with FS9.

I use Active Camera for FS2004  which is not able to be used for FSX. EZDOK is available but another expense...aaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!

In all honesty Clive, if you're enjoying the LDS 767 and PMDG 737NG in FS9 I think if I were you I'd be tempted to stay with FS9; taking your PC specs into account.

You could certainly run FSX and the PMDG 737 NGX with your specs but you'd need to run on very low settings; and with that in mind, although you'd have the better functionality and graphics of the NGX, your overall sim experience may not be as good, due to low frame rates.

You'd probably need to turn off autogen to use the NGX in FSX with your specs, in order to aim for good frame rates, and to some, that's a showstopper from the outset.

Just one opinion - wait and see what others say too.
