June 21, 200520 yr Hi guys. I have been out of flightsimming for a long time, but I'm back now and with a new system! Anyway , the reason I'm writing is to look for some Help. I forgot that flightsimming was so difficult. I mean doing a flight with everything just going right is just as easy as winning the lottery. This time though, while I was making a flight from Lanzarote to Tenerifew (Canary Islands) with the fabolous flight1 ATR, just after take off, when atc was transfering me to departure, the atc window just didn't want to open. I had to leave the atc key pushed, and while the window flickered, as if opening and closing n times per minute, I had to hope for it to accept my command. Just after a while, I decided to cancel IFR as it was just to diffciult to mantain communications. But that's not all, I seemed to have a suicide passenger opening the door once in a while, and he did't let me do anything, as the door opening/closing didn't respond to my assigned keyboard command. So the door opened and closed several times during the flight, and I ended up landing with the door opened in what seemed an express passengers arrival. There were other bad experiences like the zooming not working propperly with the keyboard commands, and other things I don't want to mention. I was definetely a Keyboard/FS problem, but i have no Idea what could have caused it. Right now I'm writing with the same keyboard in the same session (I just finished my flight), and it doesn't seem to have a problem. It was the first time though I used the F1 ATR. Does anyone have a clue of what could have happened. I don't think MS simulated suicide passengers or anything like it!!Any help will be appreciated!!Greetings HenriqueCaracas, Venezuela
June 21, 200520 yr The ATC window and main passenger door issue is a known bug in the Flight1 ATR and will allegedly be fixed in service pack 3.... The whole problem goes away as soon as you land.... (but unknown if it reoccurs if you takeoff again in the same flightsim session..)It's only happened to me twice, but so far I've just returned to my departure airport, shutdown, quit flightsim, reload and so far the 2nd try was good. Declared weather: FSX: ASN / FS9: ASE
June 21, 200520 yr I get the door opening/closing problem here too when changing views.I wondered what was causing it!Tim http://members.chello.nl/t.westnutt/realair.gif
June 21, 200520 yr "The ATC window and main passenger door issue is a known bug in the Flight1 ATR..."I've flown the F1 ATR 72-500 on several occasions and have not experienced a problem with ATC or the doors opening. The aircraft flies flawlessly. There appears to be a resource conflict in this case. I would make sure the video card and sound card drivers are properly installed. Improperly installed drivers make all kinds of strange things happen. I might also rename my FS9.cfg, restart the sim, and see if that fixes the problem. If that doesn't fix it, I would uninstall and reinstall the aircraft.Jim
June 21, 200520 yr a bug with FS is that if you open up the atc window, you can't zoom in and out using the keyboard + and - until you change views. not sure if MS will ever fix it, its been around since 2000
June 22, 200520 yr Thank you very much for your help.It sure seems to be an ATR issue! Will have to keep an eye on that and hope for F1 to solve that issue in next service pack!

June 22, 200520 yr Hi Tim,I flew it twice yesterday specifically looking for this problem and the doors remained closed even when changing views. Definitely weird it's happening on other systems.Jim

It's only started happening since I bought a new system at Christmas and installed it on that!Very odd indeed!CheersTimhttp://members.chello.nl/t.westnutt/realair.gif
