Pilot in command add-on for FSX

Featured Replies

Hello!

I hope I am asking this question on the correct forum... Before flying as a Captain, I would like to practice as First Officer in FSX (using a PMDG add-on like 737, 777 etc.).

So I would like to have an add-on that actually flies the plane from gate to gate and gives me (the First Officer) commands like "set flight level X", "gear up", responds to checklist items that I specify etc.

I have been unsuccessful so far in finding something like that. Does anyone know of such an add-on for FSX?

Thanks in advance!

Currently the only one that comes close to doing that is ProATC-X. I believe that's the only one out there.  You will still have to taxi to the runway and take off though but the co-pilot handles all comms, raises the gear and is suppose to handle the flaps too but I've only seen that on occasion.  He will also change the altitude, set the altimeter, turn on autopilot after take off (speeds are then controlled by the FMC).  Most of these functions can be accomplished with the PMDG 737 and 777 but mostly they all work well with the default aircraft.  I think the developer is working with the PMDG SDK to refine and improve these functions.  Some functions also work with some CS aircraft and other commercial products, like iFly, but you have to do more of the co-pilots chores. Still, once airborne, I can go to a wing view seat and enjoy the flight until the TOD where I have to initialize descent (can be done from window view too as the co-pilot handles everything during the descent once the descent begins).  Since the co-pilot does not handle the FMC functions, I will have to set the landing runway and STAR in the FMC and then go back to my window view and maybe have another drink.  On approach, I will get back into the cockpit to make sure my co-pilot did not forget anything and hit the F2 key on touchdown to engage the reversers and taxi to a gate.

The co-pilot will not start up or shutdown an aircraft.  That is still your responsibility.

I'm going to move this to the FSX forum as I believe it is more appropriate there.  This forum is mainly for developers to discuss things with other developers.
