April 4, 201511 yr Installed the latest OpusFSX and noticed that "aircraft camera" external view shows skeleton frame on the PMDG 737NGX. I'm running FSX-SE version. Other aircraft are OK. Wonder if anyone can help. Jose De Campos London
April 5, 201511 yr Sounds like a graphics problem but I cant see your systems specs anywhere, what are they? make sure you have highmemfix=1 under [Graphics] ZORAN
April 5, 201511 yr Commercial Member This is a standard problem with your view cycling. Please check our FAQs on our website or documentation (Live Camera manual). In OpusFSI you can simply check your view cycling and then configure OpusFSI to match your system set up if it is different from the standard cycled view modes. Cycling views is the only way of selecting the OpusFSI Custom External View. Hence if your cycling is different you must tell OpusFSI what it is. Stephen :-) Missing aircraft textures - skeleton view OpusFSI has a config option to specify the actual number of view modes (OpusFSX v3.49.3 onwards will accept a program argument to specify the number of view modes on your system) which should overcome this problem (but also refer to the information below regarding SP2 and 3rd party camera packages). Refer to the Creating Shortcuts section of the Getting Started Guide for Single PCs. Basically the skeleton aircraft results from positioning the eye point for an external view but with a cockpit (VC) view selected on the display. We cannot actually determine what view is displayed, the software is forced to just select 2D then count in steps from there. For OpusFSX versions prior to v3.49.3 for correct operation your views should cycle (S key) between, VC - Spot - Tower - Aircraft - External Opus sets each of these view types as CycleHidden=No. You should ensure you have not hidden any of these views by setting their CycleHidden field to Yes in the aircraft.cfg or cameras.cfg files. Also ensure these files are not write protected. Missing aircraft textures can also be caused by a corrupt FSX Service Pack 2 or Acceleration Expansion Pack. Before disabling 3rd party camera packages their configuration utility must be run and the "Restore" function selected to restore all camera views to FSX default, otherwise 3rd party camera definitions are not removed from the aircraft config files and can cause problems. In the OpusFSI Configure dialog you can adjust the Simulator View Modes setting (default 5) to specify how many view modes there are (determined by cycling the views using the simulator's S key). However, it is better if you can change your simulator's set up so that the standard 5 view modes can be selected and cycled. That way your configuration will be common for all simulator types. Stephen :-)
April 6, 201511 yr Author Hi Stephen, I'm referring to Opus FSX Camera Control, when I try to create an Aircraft camera that camera still shows a skeleton airframe (cockpit, doors, top of wings) as if it was still in Virtual Camera. Previously when I checked Aircraft Camera it would allow me to see the fuselage, I'm running latest PMDG 737NGX and latest OpusFSX. The (S key) cycle works fine, it shows the fuselage. thanks Jose De Campos London
April 7, 201511 yr Commercial Member Then check your camera definition in edit mode, you most likely have the view mode set to VC instead of External Aircraft. Most aircraft in VC mode do not define the entire aircraft, only the bits you would see from inside the cockpit (saves the sim trying to render or process bits that are expected to be invisible). I assume when you say the S key works fine you mean it cycles through the EXACT view mode sequence listed in the FAQ and above. Viz. VC - Spot - Tower - Aircraft - External Five different view modes cycled. Stephen :-)
April 7, 201511 yr Author I do check Aircraft Camera mode. I only noticed this problem (no fuselage) after updating to OpusFSX v3541. The S key works meaning 5 view modes (with fuselage). Jose De Campos London
April 7, 201511 yr Commercial Member Then check your Configure dialog and make sure the default 5 is set for the number of view mides. You should check all your Configure and other dialog settings after upgrading as it is possible that some settings may not be preserved after the upgrade. Stephen :-)
April 7, 201511 yr Author Checked all, still the Aircraft camera mode does not show fuselage. Jose De Campos London
April 8, 201511 yr Commercial Member If you have the Simulator View Modes in the FSISERVER Configure dialog set to 5 AND Cycling the views with the S key in the sim gives the following repeated sequence of view modes... VC - Spot - Tower - Aircraft - External Note, the final view mode in the sequence should be labelled as the Custom View, OpusFSI External View. After this view mode it should cycle back to the VC view. This is different from the previous Aircraft View, OpusFSI Aircraft View, so you should have the following repeated view modes cycling... Cockpit View, Virtual Cockpit Outside View, Spot Tower View, Nearest Tower Aircraft View, OpusFSI Aircraft View Custom View, OpusFSI External View Double check this. You could also try going into Camera Edit mode (I assume you have Live Camera enabled of course) then restarting the sim. This is really the limit of any OpusFSI Live Camera control as it simply uses your configured 'Simulator View Modes' setting to cycle to any external view (if that cycling takes you back into a cockpit view mode then you end up with missing/undefined bits of the aircraft). If it has nothing to do with this then I'm afraid it has nothing to do with OpusFSI. When you cycle to any 'non cockpit' view mode you should be able to see all of the aircraft. The only other thing I could suggest is to re-install the aircraft files. Stephen :-) Also double check your camera configuration and view modes. Check also your actual aircraft.cfg file in your sim's SimObjects folder, the OpusFSI Aircraft View should be appended to the bottom. These are the only things related to Opus that could cause a skeleton view (VC mode selected when displaying an external camera view). If you want you could email me your CAM file and I will take a look. Stephen
April 9, 201511 yr Author Problem fixed. Thanks Stephen for staying with me. Your first post had the solution. Replacing the Cameras.CFG file with a backup did the trick. I think it had to do with CycleHidden settings. As always great support. Jose De Campos London
