April 7, 201511 yr Okay, so ever since I have installed ENB series, I get this message on startup, in a simple window that says "Assertion failed" and something about the fsx.exe. I tested this, and when I remove the d3d9.dll file, which came from ENB, FSX runs perfectly, but then ENB doesn't work. Any advice?
April 8, 201511 yr The ENB Series module is difficult for many to get to working properly. There's a $10 payware program called Shade which does much of the same things and works better. The developer of that program has an enb.ini located in the ENB directory of his product. I have never used that as I'm satisfied with Shade (FSX only). The AVSIM CTD Guide, page 11, provides information on the ENBSeries and SweetFX modules. I think the d3d9.dll in the main FSX directory is the culprit as it has to be loaded whenever you start FSX. There is definitely no permanent solution to your problem unless you can find the best enb.ini that works. There are many who have this module working perfectly and you will see many topics in the FSX Forum about various enb.ini's that work and what others have done to fix this problem. If you search the FSX Forum, go to the FSX Forum and then type enbseries in the search box located in the upper right corner of the forum. Click on Google and you will get several options. Click on Search this forum. It will then search just the FSX Forum. Good luck! Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! April 9, 201511 yr Author Ok, I understand and appreciate your reply, but I have a question-why does the d3d9.dll works for some but not for others? Is it because of the addons they have or something else?
April 9, 201511 yr It boils down to the settings inside the enb.ini. The d3d9.dll is also a DirectX hack and it could affect your other settings too. I got the basic enb.ini to work most of the time but had periodic texture anomalies and it destroyed the fun using FSX. So gave it up. Most enb.ini users went to SweetFX which is also very difficult for some to get to work properly. Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! April 10, 201511 yr Author Ah okay, and can you give me a link to the Shade program? I think I'll resort to that. As long as it can guarantee it works, I'm fine with paying.
