June 24, 200520 yr I have installed some sceneries lately, but none that would include cactus plants. however, flying around chicago today, I noticed them all over the place...any ideas about what bitmaps or anything else to remove which will put cacti back in their right place? thanks...Sherm
June 24, 200520 yr Hi Sherman,Hope things are going well for you back there. I'm afraid this sounds like a scenery added a file that replaced a default one, and wherever that file is called out, it will appear. Can you remember which scenery you added since the last time you didn't notice cactus growing on the vines at Wrigley? :-)There may have been something in the readme about it for the scenery you installed. I know Palm Springs had one I made a backup for regarding taxiway textures.Perhaps a Screenshot to show us in a popular area so we can see which was replaced.I also did a search for cact* in my FS9 folder and did not come up with any hits. Perhaps do a search with cact* including the wildcard * using your search tool for windows and let's see what comes up.Then maybe we can figure this out.I do have cactus in my kids Sim City 3000 Folder though. :-)Regards,JoeGrab My FREEWARE Voice recognition Profiles here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=58334]Cessna 172 Voice Profile[/a][a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=60740]FSD Avanti Voice Profile[/a].You will need the main FREEWARE Flight Assistant program to use it, get it here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=genutils&DLID=39661]Flight Assistant 2.2[/a] CryptoSonar on Twitch & YouTube.
June 25, 200520 yr Was it the Southwest cactus autogen? All it does is overwrite some other trees to put cactii in the desert...unfortunately, it will put cactus all over!
June 25, 200520 yr Sherman,Autogen trees are contained in a texture sheet called trees**.bmp - they can be found in the Texture folder. Probably you can restore the default files from the original disc. This is a problem with changing these texture sheets for others - the new vegetation will appear everywhere in the world.Best regards.Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
June 25, 200520 yr thanks for the info and the leads...gentlemen...I'll work out the solution with your help.Sherm
June 26, 200520 yr Sherm:I believe that you will find that the problem is treesSU.bmp in the main texture folder. Check the file date. You can replace it with the original, which is on Disc2MSGAME3.cab. Just unzip it over the one in your texture file.I ran into the same problem, though not sure where I picked it up.Regards,Wilson

Something like that is prolly where you got yours.:D
