Missing Scenery Issue

Recommended Posts

Hi folks - I've downloaded Aerosoft's Heathrow for X-plane. I installed it in my root X-plane folder. I booted up X-plane the first time and everything was fine - I could see the airport and it looked great. However, I booted up X-plane today (without having done anything to my X-plane directory since then) and all of the airport is missing. There are just runways and taxiways in the default textures. Nothing from the Aerosoft has loaded at all. So, I checked X-plane root directory again, and this is what it looks like: From what I can see, there are three folders related to Heathrow airport, and only one of them is the Aerosoft scenery. What can I do to make the Aerosoft scenery load instead of the default scenery? Thanks.

UPDATE: I loaded the X-plane again (without having modified anything). This time, some of the textures have loaded, but from what I can see, there looks to be a scenery clash between older textures and newer textures.

Also - This is Zurich. There are no airport buildings, but yesterday there were the default airport buildings with jetways and other details. I downloaded a V3 scenery tile for this area, so this may be interfering with something?

Open up your Scenery_packs.ini file in a text editor. It will show you in which order X-Plane will load your scenery. In general you want the most important sceneries on top. The meshes (like the V3 HD mesh) on the bottom.

If you install (drop into your custom scenery folder) a new scenery, X-Plane will always put it on top of the stack in the scenery_packs.ini. Thats probably what messed you up when you installed the HD mesh tile. No, I didn´t read the great instructions that come with that package, either ;-)

So make sure you sort and prune your scenery_packs.ini file, or just eraze it and let X-Plane build it anew (in alphabetical order) - this is why alpilotX named his mesh "zzz...."

Good luck, Jan
