Saving flight to avoid VAS OOM
I know how to save a flight, but when I do save a flight while flying the PMDG, my flight plan does not reload when I open this saved flight. The FMC is blank, the autopilot is switched off, and there is no way to activate my route again. Save flight only saves the position of the aircraft; it doesn't seem to save any of the flight information. Is there a way around this?

P3D v2.5 SLI test results, up 33%
4K doesn't need SLI at all, at least not on my system it doesn't. I'm running P3D at 4K with ORBX addons, payware airports, REX soft clouds, ASN and the PMDG aircraft. I have locked my FPS at 30 and this is what I get everywhere I go, even in the most detailed airports like Heathrow with ORBX England. This is with textures at 1080P and medium autogen. Any higher would cause an OOM. So, I don't see why you would want an FPS higher than 30 because then you're in OOM territory.

You shouldn't need to SLI in P3D at all. The problem is VAS consumption. You'd soon OOM if you maxed out your settings being cocky with SLI.

OOM issue at only 2.5GB VRAM
I've been testing my VRAM consumption in P3D using ORBX Global+England, Rex Soft Clouds, Aerosoft Heathrow and Aerosoft Airbus X. I start by taking off at Manchester, flying down the East coat of the UK to the Thames estuary. I noticed flying out to the ocean decreases my VRAM consumption. It went from around 2,000GB flying inland, to around 1.8Gb and decreasing the further I fly away from ORBX England scenery. I turned east, and fly down the Thames Estuary, and noticed that my VRAM quickly increased from 2,000 to 2,300GB. Before I reached London, P3D was OOM at only 2,500 GB used. I've done this route two times now, and both times this happens. I thought P3D had 4K to play with? Why the OOM so early? I couldn't even reach London with Heathrow in my sight!

I love P3D
Just got it up and running. Installed ORBX sceneries, 737 NGX, Rex soft clouds. I love the lighting effect and the ground shadows and how my cockpit gets darker and lighter depending on my direction and altitude. I love how smooth it runs - though I've locked FPS at 30. I love how the scenery doesn't come into focus as much as it does in FSX. Everything seems more stable and smooth. I have pretty much maxed out settings at 4k resolution. It is running like a dream on my SSD. I have waited so long for this day and it has come. (Not quite as smooth as X-plane) but not far off at all. I love it! Can't wait for 64 bit soon... I'm torn between X-Plane and P3D. If only the two could merge together, then we'd have the ultimate flight sim! The problem with X-plane is that, while the terrain MESH is far more realistic than FSX/P3D, the aircraft models look like plastic toys ( I don't think X-Plane has external reflections) The lighting and shadows in P3D really are its strength and my high end system handles them wonderfully... When I'm playing P3D, I feel like I should be playing X-Plane and vice versa. I can't settle myself to play just one. I'm always going back and forth between them, evaluating their strengths/weaknesses

Why do PMDG quote 8GB+ of RAM when P3D is 32 bit?
See here: https://www.precisionmanuals.com/pages/product/P3D/ngx8900.html They are suggesting 8GB+ RAM as their recommended requirements. As P3D is 32 bit, meaning it can make use of only 4GB RAM, why do they recommend 8GB+?

HIGHMEMFIX=1 does not appear to be in my FSX: SE cfg file.
HIGHMEMFIX=1 does not appear to be in my FSX: SE cfg file. I have the cfg open here in front of me, and no where can I see this tweak. Should I add it into the cfg file, or was it integrated into some other piece of code by Dovetail?

Increasing the LOD_RADIUS
Increasing the LOD Radius will increase the draw distance in FSX? In X-plane it is the opposite you see. With the Terra Haze plugin, increasing the LoD Radius decreases draw distance.

Increasing the LOD_RADIUS
Is there any way of increasing the LOD_RADIUS in FSX:SE in order to make the distance less blurry in ORBX Open LC scenery? I have a surplus of FPS I would like to use. I know in X-plane that increasing the LOD_RADIUS value reduces the draw distance and there is a plugin that does this. How do I go about doing this in FSX:SE? Thanks.

Low CPU & GPU use but low FPS?
An i7 4790K processor would be better than the one you have. It is FASTER, which is all that matters for X-plane/FSX. I have mine overclocked to 4.7GHZ and am getting 30-60 FPS in highly detailed areas like London Heathrow with addons. This is at 4K resolution. Like you, I am also using a GTX 970. What is the base speed of your CPU? I advise you to turn down number of cars to Siberian Winter, as this will take a huge load off your CPU. I would also change the shadow settings to overlay or static. I would turn on HDR rendering and set screen anti-aliasing to 2X. You can see my settings/FPS here: forum.avsim.net/topic/468892-4k-monitor-gives-higher-fps-with-no-noticeable-loss-of-quality/

4k monitor gives higher FPS with no noticeable loss of quality
Here are some photos. You can see my FPS in the top left plugin. The pics look crappier than what I see in game because my camera is always moving with a plugin This is the INTERESTING comparison. Now look at the FPS difference between these two photos. The first photo has 8X (higest rendering) and my FPS is around 17. Now look at this photo. With 2x rendering and my FPS is a butter smooth 33 FPS. And yet, the loss of picture quality is negligible. (Both are 4k resolution)...

Low CPU & GPU use but low FPS?
I have a single GTX 970, and an i7 4790 4.7GHZ CPU. I'm getting well over 100FPS on my 4K monitor at Heathrow with ultra/high settings. (This is because there is no need for Anti-aliasing at 4k resolution, so turning this off makes no difference in picture quality, but gives an instant 30-50FPS depending on my location).

X-plane does not support SLI at all. So you're just running with a single GTX660ti. I am using a GTX 970 and am getting 30-40 FPS at Heathrow, JFK with high/ultra settings!

They are 30HZ if you connect them with an HDMI lead. I am using a display port cable and have set a 60HZ refresh rate! It looks stunning...
