July 1, 200520 yr Recently there was a program mentioned here that would allow simmers to join two versions of FS9 over the internet so that others could play the role of "crew". Does anyone recall the name of the addon and has anyone tried it? I'd be more interested in using it to display 2D gauges on multiple monitors, which I would think would work. Thanks!David
July 1, 200520 yr Hi,I tried it just now, but it sucks big time. Since you cannot use it on a lan, or maybe after paying.. it also uninstalls with leaving things in your module directory. So I couldnt test it with my two pc's.Check here: http://www.gates.to/LoadPage.php?page=Fsnet&rmenu=N&smenu=YJohan[A HREF=http://jdserver.no-ip.com]Personal Server[/A]A LITTLE LESS CONVERSATION, AND A LITTLE MORE ACTION PLEASE!
July 1, 200520 yr I tried it, and IMHO it's a FAR cry from "sucks big time". I flew with a friend a few nights ago, and we had a blast. I don't think it's your best answer for using multiple monitors for 2D gauges, though. WideFS is probably a much better answer for that.
July 1, 200520 yr Thanks for the information! Bill, what did you mean about using WideFS for 2D gauges? I currently use WideFS with Project Magenta software across three PCs but as far as I know it does not synchronize different copies of FS9 - am I right? Wideview is what I was orignally thinking of but it only allows the external view to synchronize in slew mode, so 2D gauges don't work. I'm glad to hear this new addon works. Thanks!David

I'm glad to hear this new addon works.MaxiVista is the easiest and most affordable solution to having multi-computer/multi-monitor support for undocked 2d panels & gauges. The "entry level" version will allow up to three monitors on a LAN connected computer, and all instances appear in your Display menu as monitors connected to your main computer, making monitor assignment a quick and simple matter!"MaxiVista now supports up to three monitors on the Viewer PC with a new maximum resolution of 2,560x1,600 pixels per display."http://www.maxivista.com/new.htmWhat is also of interest is that the "remote monitors" also offer "automatic rotated display resolutions," meaning that you can flip a monitor on its side and use the full screen for display of a PFD, MFD or radio stack for example! ;)Way cool!DISCLAIMER: I am simply a happy customer of MaxiVista, and am in no way connected to the company! ;) Fr. July 1, 200520 yr Bill,That does look cool but it still isn't clear to me how the primary FS9 PC drives 2D gauges on the 2nd or 3rd PCs. I have multiple monitor capability on the FS computer but the more monitors and open windows you have the harder the hit on frame rates. That's why I would really like to share the load with other PCs. Does that make sense?David

For all practical purposes though, MaxiVista simply creates "virtual video devices" on your main computer that appear as though you had anywhere from 1 to 13 monitors connected to it. All the processing is still done by the "host" though. In that respect, MaxiVista would be any help for "load distribution..." ;( Fr. July 1, 200520 yr >it sucks big timeNot in my view. It has a few little glitches, like any new software in development, but it's fantastic fun sharing a cockpit over the 'net and it basically works just fine. I have several hours with it now.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cathayhk.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/maamlogo2.jpg[/a] _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM

According to what is actually written there, it is indeed possible to run on a LAN!"If you are going to use gates.to/FSNet on a local network, you will need to connect to the Internet at least once per each PC, then the Internet connection can be closed." July 1, 200520 yr Well, thanks for the suggestion anyways Bill. I've tried something like this before and it was actually pretty nice to be able to use one mouse and one keyboard for all of my CPUs though.David
