FS9 update.....should I??

Featured Replies

When my replacement CD arrives from Mircosoft I'll be reinstalling FS9. Should I also install the update to make it 9.1? Is it important?...worth it? Any downside in upgrading? I'd like to see what the FS community here has to say about it. Thanks in advance.-=MAB=-Edited to correct spelling error

Get it. You get all of the bridges that were missing in the original release and it also fixes the autogen bug and seasonal ctd (crash-to-desktop) bug.Regards,James

Cool.....anyone out there oppose getting the update?...why?-=MAB=-

No. MS make FS. MS made the update to FS. Why on earth would anyone oppose getting the update? :-) Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cathayhk.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/maamlogo2.jpg[/a]

well, there are the eternal Microsoft haters who are opposed to anything Microsoft releases (while of course using the products themselves while claiming they don't on /. ).Installed it and never looked back. Didn't see much difference, but the number of (already rare) crashes decreased even further and performance seems here and there to be fractionally increased (though no more than a percent or so on average).

Well why would the Microsoft haters run FS9 at all, then? They should run X-Plane on a mac or something :)Big performance increase from installing the patch here. No side-effects. Go ahead and install it.

I actually had a substantial Frame Rate hit with 9.1 I put the same plane (F1 Meridian) in the same weather/place (night, semi-cloudy, SB3) and without 9.1 I was getting 27.8 locked at 28, with 9.1 I was getting 18-21

Just make sure you install on a fresh FS 2004 and you shouldn't have any problems. Only bugs seems to be when installing the update on top of a modified sim.

That's what I wonder. The majority of posts stating how much people hate Microsoft products on mailing lists and usenet are made from machines running Windows and posted using Outlook Express. Many of those people claim to be using Linux and Thunderbird of course, not knowing the real OS and mailclient can be determined from examining the headers :)
