July 3, 200520 yr Anybody knows if the next FS 2006 will have weather radar feature ?This is really a missing point. Specially if you go through thunderstorm areas.Marek
July 3, 200520 yr I don't think anyone would know yet. Correct me if I'm wrong, but there isn't a set date for a FS10 release. They are doing the data survey right now (of which I am a part of). If I happen to hear anything, I'll post here (don't expect anything soon though).-=MAB=- Mike Brown

July 3, 200520 yr ...or you consider this weather radar goodie:http://www.reality-xp.com/products/WX5/index.htm
July 4, 200520 yr http://www.hifisim.com/It reads the data that ASV supplies it.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
July 4, 200520 yr Author if i buy this weather radar. can i use it for the Airbus 330/340 bz phoenix software and if so how does it work. Is it incorporated in the cockpit panel ? does it work with the real-time weather download option of FS 2004 ?Thanks ina dvance
July 4, 200520 yr Just to clarify the difference:The Reality-XP radar reads 3D cloud structure containing moisture from FS itself and is therefore independent of any specific weather program. You can choose any weather application that controls the FS weather engine. I use it with Active Sky, now ASV. It installs like any other gauge in a panel and can be used as a popup as well.Active Radar included with Active Sky interprets data from the AS application directly.
July 5, 200520 yr Hi, Marek:If you don't have ASV or RealityXP WX500, then I would suggest that you consider purchasing ASV first, if funds are limited. It will provide you with superior weather and amazing flexibility in the weather environment. Plus, you will get Active Radar at no additional charge. Then, purchase WX500 when funds allow. It integrates neatly into most panels without too much fuss, as shown below. Several of the commercial aircraft already have modified panel config. files. http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/121501.jpgI personally think that the WX500 is much more realistic, even down to the point of showing shadowing from major storm cells. You can even point it up or down relative to the horizon, just like the real thing.Just one more opinion . . .Wilson
July 5, 200520 yr Of course it will. It will also have realistic wet runway conditions, icing, random chance of hijackers or bomb plots, airforce fighters enforcing restricted airspace by shooting at you, and a virtual FAA that will ground you if you break any rule (meaning you won't be able to start FS for about 3 months minimum each time you do something wrong).
July 5, 200520 yr Author i wanna use it in the A 330/340 from Phoenix and in the new 744 from PMDG. can i incorporate it there in the cockpit ????HOw much are the costs for all these gauges
July 5, 200520 yr Hi,ASV is $37.99 USD and you will get our weather program, the ability to use archived weather, environment textures, weather maker, flight planner, and weather radar.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
July 5, 200520 yr In the case of Active Radar, you will have a popup window, so it will work with any aircraft. However, there is no integration into the panel that I am aware of.As Uwe said above, the Phoenix panels may be difficult, but the PMDG panels should be a breeze. If you look at the PMDG site, you will see that there are already panel config files available for integrating WX500, so there is virtually no work to get it fully integrated with PMDG panels. It costs $24.95, and Jim gave you the price of ASV.As I said earlier, if cost is a consideration, I personally would go for ASV first, but add WX500 radar when possible. By the way, both companies provide superb support for their customers. You won't hear any horror stories about bad service from these two.Wilson
