July 4, 200520 yr Every time if i start an IFR flight and file an IFR flightplan for Flight simulator 2005 I have a problem with ATC.1st problem: Ground Control tells me to Hold short for lets say Runway 19L.If I hold short, i never get a clearance to cross the runway.2nd problem: If i tune in to Tower frequency I have not the opportunity to choose an option for lets say Holding short of the Runway, ready for Take - off. There is no option at all for the tower.Who knows what the problem can be?I installed the fokker 100 project and raineffects. Can this be the problem?Thank you very much guys.Sander van der Poel
July 4, 200520 yr I'm not sure what the problemn is. Just take off and go fly! Then conatct center for further advisories.Or if you want real ATC join VATSIM it's free!
July 4, 200520 yr My problem is that i would like to request with the tower if i am Ready for take - off for my IFR departure.I dont have an option. In the ATC box i can only choose these options and than im on Tower frequency.1) contact ground2) listen to the atis
July 4, 200520 yr During your taxi clearance Ground probably told you to "contact Tower when ready". You taxi to the runway and then change to the Tower frequency you were given. If you are not getting the "Request takeoff clearance from Tower" option it is because you have not taxied close enough to the hold short line. If you slowly taxi closer to it the option should come up.Mike

July 4, 200520 yr step 1) download squawkbox 3step 2) forget about that garbage FS ATCstep 3) enjoy the realism on VATSIMWHY do people still insist on using the FS ATC when something like VATSIM is available and FREE!!!!!!
July 4, 200520 yr Sandar, Unfortunately, I do not recall ATC for FS being complex enough to tell you to hold short of a runway, unless you are too close to another taxing airplane, or if it is the active and a plane is taking off. If you start on the Active runway, you can indeed have a take off clearance, but there are some problems involved if other traffic is in the area. If no other traffic is around, then simply request taxi clearance, then immediately switch to tower frequency and request take off clearance and you'll be fine. However, if another plane arrives at your runway before you request clearance from the tower, then you have a problem as the other plane has already requested clearance from the tower before you had a chance. In this situation ATC for MS is not "smart" enough to see that you are there. All it knows is that another plane has requested clearance. Thus, if you ask for take off clearance, you are now second in line. The other plane must take off first for ATC to give you clearance. So you have to taxi off the active, let the other plane take off and then ATC will give you clearance. To avoid confusion, just do one of the following:If you want to start from the active runway, this is fine. Just be sure to ask for taxi clearance and take off clearance right away after starting the flight, so no other aircraft can take that first slot. Then get your plane ready for departure as usual and ATC will keep all aircraft off the runway until you depart. If you begin from a gate or parking area, then get your plane ready for departure, push back, then ask for taxi clearance. Have an airport diagram handy, or use progressive taxi to ensure you are indeed going the right direction. Remaining on ground frequency, taxi until you arrive at the active runway in which you are using. Wait in line and follow other departing planes until you reach the hold line (or just a few feet before). At this point, switch over to tower frequency and an additional option for requesting take off clearance will be available. Most times take off clearance will be granted unless another plane is landing or another plane just took off on the active runway. Good flying.
July 5, 200520 yr Sandar, It simply sounds to me as if you are not pulling your aircraft forward enough to get the option to request take off. Another option I can think of is that maybe you have a bad AFCAD for that airport, no wait, maybe AFCADS do not have anything to do with user aircraft, only AI but I am not sure. Maybe you can try a quick test, load up a flight plan and taxi to the runway per instructions from ATC, once you get to the runway and hold short see if you have the request take off option, if not slowly pull forward to see if it comes up. Remember that you are not as close to the runway as it appears since the panel usually blocks a good portion of your view of the ground. Let us know how it goes.Good luck!Philip Olsonhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/supporter.jpg
July 5, 200520 yr Because on VATSIm how much AI traffic do you get? Ive packed my FS9 full of AI and it is so fun, its just like real life! With all the real airplanes flying around, GA traffic, military traffic, etc. None of this is available with vatsim. Until you can fly online with other people AND the AI, I will not do it.
July 5, 200520 yr >With all the real airplanes flying around, GA traffic,>military traffic, etc. None of this is available with vatsim. Depends where you fly from. Try Manchester or even Turkish air space was very busy last evening.A big plus too is, flying on-line with other real aircraft dosen't stun your frame rates! For that reason alone, it is worth it.Dave T http://www.flightsimgrpuk.free-online.co.uk/ Dave Taylor
July 5, 200520 yr Author Moderator Sandar,Something else for you to consider is Radar Contact. This is a commercial program designed for use with FS2004 and earlier versions. It's vastly superior to the default ATC in FS. Although others have recommended VatSim the beauty of RC is that you have full ATC for any airport in the world and can use Ai packages.Version 3 is currently available but version 4 isn't that far off and integrates nicely with commercial Ai traffic packages such as Ultimate Traffic.Click on the graphic beneath my name to find out more or visit the Radar Contact forum here in AvSim.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England).
