Replacing Professional Developer License version with Academic

Featured Replies

I sent P3D an email about  my wanting to get the Academic license to replace the Pro Developer version  I subscribed to for 1 month. a couple of days ago, and they said they would refund what I paid for the 1 month subscription. They told me I would have to download the Academic version as it is different from the Pro Dev Version, which I am doing right  now.  My question is, should I uninstall the Pro version first before installing the Academic Version.  I hate to do anything that might mess up the installation and wind up with nothing....I am addicted already to P3D.

Yes yes yes!

Definitely uninstall the pro version before installing the Academic version.

Follow these steps:

  1. Uninstall the Professional Developer version.
  2. Delete any files left over in the Prepar3d v2 folder that may have been modified by third-party programs or added by third-party programs.
  3. Delete any files left over in: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3d v2\
  4. Delete any files left over in: C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3d v2\
  5. Delete any files left over in: C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3d v2\
  6. Delete any files left over in: ...\My Documents\Prepar3d v2 Files\  (save any saved flights you want to keep as a backup)
  7. Reboot PC
  8. Install Academic version.
