July 7, 200520 yr System-Windows XP Home, AMD 2800XP, Nvidia 6600GT 128, 1 Gig RAM, FS2004Location-Asheville, NC (KAVL)Noticed 3-D lights flickering a lot in the evening time...@ 2000-2100 when clouds were present...Clouds are set at %100 3-D and I have only the highway lights set to work (residential is turned off). Seems as if flying thru the clouds caused the lights to turn off (flicker?) and sometimes they will flicker depending on what direction I am in spot view with the a/c on the ground. thanks, Eric
July 7, 200520 yr How about with no clouds ?Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_beta_member.jpg Michael J.
July 8, 200520 yr Will try that...I know that in the KMCO and KJAX areas this didnt appear. May be an elevation problem since KAVL is in the mountains. The manual or a post I read somewhere did mention some issues with higher elevations. Not sure though. Will try that.
July 8, 200520 yr Same thing happens to me. Blocks of lights flicker on and off randomly. Just tested with NO clouds at 2500 ft in Orange county CA area. Only other addon I have covering that are is FS Genesis Mesh. Using UT's landclass. The lighting coverage looks awesome other than that flickering. Kind of reminds me of a Christmas tree when entire strings of lights flash on and off.Dave---------------------------------------------------System Specs:Athlon64 3500+ ClawHammerECS NForce4 A-939 Mobo (1ghz FSB)2 Gigs OCZ Performance PC3200 Ram (Dual Channel)ATI Radeon X800Pro PCI-E 256MB (Catalyst 5.6 @ 550/540)SoundBlaster Live 24bitSaitek Cyborg EvoWinXP SP1
July 8, 200520 yr >Same thing happens to me. Blocks of lights flicker on and>off randomly. And now I think I know what you are talking about. UT creator explained this why it happens - some sort of FS9 inherent limitation. But I found solution to the problem. I use Chris Willis' yellow-sodium night textures (in Avsim library) and they go together with UT's excellent point-lights very well. And the flickering is either completely gone or simply hard to see.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_beta_member.jpg Michael J.
July 8, 200520 yr Author The best place for information about UT is at the simforums.com Flight1 section. Look for the Ultimate Terrain folder. Or, better yet...here's the link:http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_topics.asp?FID=19Sherm
