Battery Switch is Off But Power is On at Startup

Featured Replies

Heres a delimma! Sometimes when I create a flight The aircraft is loaded with the power (electrical and avionics) on while both switches are off. Sometimes it will shut off by itself before I get started and sometimes it will stay on no matter what. The plane still functions but I'd prefer a "Cold Dark" start in order to follow a checklist. Is there a place in the Aircraft config that I can edit to assure a Dark start? Or is there somthing wrong that is causing this headache? Thanks for any helpJim

you need to turn the avionics switch to off in the plane you saved the startup situation in.

I've been having the same problem recently and only at night. I've added a few addons but not sure what it could be.Kilstorm

There is sometimes a line in the acft.cfg in the {electrical} section:electric_always_available = 1If this is set to "1" you won't be able to turn off the main battery switch. Just change it to "0" and save.Jim

The Dreamwings Dash 8 is just one of the aircraft that give me this problem. There is no such line in the Aircraft Config anywhere.Jim

It is and has allways been off.The mags are too as well as the Battry switch....

Are you trying to load a specific flight or is this happening when you load from the "Create a flight" menu? If this is from "create a flight", open your default flight's .flt file with Notepad and check the following sections:[systems.0]BatterySwitch=FalseAvionicsSwitch=FalseStructuralDeiceSwitch=FalsePropDeiceSwitch=FalseAutobrakes=OffStandbyVacuum=FalsePropSync=FalseFlightDirector=False[switches.0]PitotHeat=FalseBeaconLights=FalseLandingLights=FalseLogoLights=FalseNavLights=FalsePanelLights=FalseRecognitionLights=FalseStrobeLights=FalseTaxiLights=FalseWingLights=FalseCabinLights=FalseIf everything is set to "False" and it's still loading with battery power on, try adding the "electric_always_available = 0" line to the [electrical] section of your aircraft.cfg and see what happens.Still no luck? Put your acft.cfg, panel.cfg, and the .flt file you're trying to load into a .zip file and attach it so we can have a look.Jim

mine is from a saved flight with mags, bat, alt and av all off and it only happens when I open or start the sim at night. If I change it to day then its cold and dark but at night no matter what I turn on or off it still stays on.Kilstorm

Hmmmmm! Thats a strange one.... Im gonna try Jim's idea and see what happens..Jim F

Man, I cant figure this out. I checked what you told me and the info in the flight file was just what you said. The battery and the avionics were set to true. So I edited the info and changed them to false and restarted flight sim. The power was still on. I checked my original startup mode in the flight file and all was set to false.I rebuilt the startup mode after I inserted the electrical power entry in the ACRFT config file. I also added the line to the other aircraft, The Dreamwings Dash8Q100. I restarted FS and loaded my default flight... All was dark and off.... I loaded the Dash at the same location and all was dark and off as well. I went to the world menu and sent the Dash to KMSY and the power was all on when it loaded.. You got me Man.. What the heck is going on? Im lost IN FS Bug land I guess..I guess a little ghost is sitting there at KMSY to sneak in the door and fire up the power.. He must get under the panel to do it cuz the switches are all off .. HmmmmmmmmThink Ill drink a beer and smoke one and just let this slide....Jim.......PS nothing changed on the AC config but added repaints and your little electrical line....Jimm....

I went to the world menu and sent the Dash to KMSYand the power was all on when it loaded..Maybe you're picking up some "power spikes" from the storm or something :)Think Ill drink a beer and smoke one and just let thisslide....Now that sounds like a good plan... LMAO!!Seriously, I'll download the Q100 this afternoon and see if I get the same results. That's just weird...Jim
