Goofy Y-axis CH Products yoke

Featured Replies

Hi fellas,

A short while ago my CH Products Flightsim yoke has started acting up. I don't blame it, because it's fairly old, but still its behaviour is quite annoying; the axis for elevator input is no longer stable. When I pull the yoke in a climb and hold it in that position every few seconds the elevator axis jumps back down considerably for an instant and then reverts back to the position I'm holding it in. You can imagine that landings are becoming very exciting this way...

I've checked what happens in FSUIPC. The neutral position of the elevator axis jumps up and down very quickly between the approximate values of -1000 and 1900. When I try to calibrate the axis it very briefly goes to the positions -16183 and 16183 and then instantly jumps back to the -1000/1900 range. In short, calibration seems impossible. Is this behaviour something I can fix myself or is it time to get myself a new yoke?

Cheers, Bert

Sounds like a bad potentiometer. You could try some electronics cleaner or maybe replace the pot. You can get the pot from CH. Then its a fairly easy job replacing it. There are Utube videos that can help. Here's one:
