Long Haul Frame Degradation

Featured Replies

Been doing long hauls with the 777 for quite awhile now.  I've noticed recently that the frame rates while landing are quite a bit worse that on takeoff.  Haven't noticed this before.  Wondering if it has something to do with the latest update.

I highly doubt it. My first thought would be physical system issues. Over longer sim sessions (which are more standard for the 777), heat has more time to accumulate. Heat, as we all know, is the enemy of computing. Check your vents and perhaps clean the case out. There are a few good freeware tools out there for monitoring CPU temp if you feel inclined to watch it (you can do it by default through a couple commands in the command line, usually, but it's a lot easier if you just download a tool).

Apart from that, I'd have a look at how fragmented your drive is. This might help some, though it would likely have the same effect the whole flight, and it will not free up tons of frames like some of the sim experts would have you believe.

Thanks Kyle.  It has been a while since I did a good cleaning.  Hope that will help....

Hope so. Post back if it doesn't.
