Do I need anything special to get it to run in FSX SE?

Recommended Posts

Makerunways is still required to get the data from scenery. You put it in the FSX folder under your FSX-SE install. When prompted during the RC scenery rebuild put in that nice long path to that folder. I recommend you save that path using wordpad or notepad as a text file with a shortcut to it on your desktop. That way you can call it up for copying from that file for pasting into the query dialog. I use disk partition H for FS9 and FSX stuff so my path is: H:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FSX .

Be sure you install the latest FSUIPC4 described as FSX-SE compatible. Be sure to read install notes. Do the full then interim update if required.

Remember you must create a shortcut to rcv4.exe in the folder you set up for rc to use with the steam edition. Then set the first and second pages of that shortcut's properties to run as admin and then click apply on the first property page to save both changes and then the first p[age OK to get out of properties. RC should then execute makerwys from with and do the necessary file copies. This also gives RC the permissions to the Flight Simulator X files folder for the .pln, .flt, and .wx folders that you point to in its path setup.

A caution:

Never use anything but OK to get out of the RC path setting explorer view as Cancel or X will corrupt its configuration files. Backup in the RCv4X or RCv4X-SE folders that you create for the FS versions you are using the files rcv3.dat and keyboard.dat to a safe folder (for each rc install you are using) to avoid an RC reinstall in case these files get corrupted.
