Introducing... The Boeing 777 Route Database!

Featured Replies

Good morning / evening everyone,

Lately, I have been spending countless hours searching for flights on flightaware, failing to find one that suits my time constraints before I miss out on my "slot."

That certainly won't be an issue anymore, as we now have The Boeing 777 Route Database.

This database was created by hand, through Excel, encompassing hundreds of flights carried out by the major alliance carriers (unfortunately, EK was excluded due to the sheer number of flights they offer). The 777-200, 777-200ER, 777-300, and 777-300ER are included in this file with very simple information listed clearly.

This flight database has many uses:

  • Simple use for the 777 enthusiast (thus its presence here in Hangar Chat, as anyone can use it for any purpose).
  • Use to find flights that meet certain airline and/or time restrictions.
  • Use to find flights of certain aircraft type.
  • Use to find flights that depart from a certain location.
  • Use to find flights that arrive at a certain location.

In this database, you can find:

  • The airline that carries the flight out, sorted alphabetically.
  • Departure airports, with both IATA and ICAO codes, sorted alphabetically, per airline.
  • Arrival airports, with both IATA and ICAO codes, sorted alphabetically, per airline.
  • Flight number(s) for each flight.
  • Flight time for each flight, rounded to the nearest quarter hour.
  • In the event of the flight connecting before reaching its final destination (such as SQ16), both flights will be listed.
  • All OUTBOUND flights are listed (who would want to fly INTO a hub anyways).
  • TWO .pdf files, one for the 777-200/ER and one for the 777-300/ER.

The best part... it's all completely free, right here on the AVSIM library.

At this moment, approximately 12:00PM EST, the database is complete, but I am just making some final changes and double checking to ensure completeness. This database will be released at 12:00AM EST 1 JUNE 2015 (in slightly about twelve hours from now). I plan to update this on a monthly basis (the next release being on 1 July 2015). It would obviously be impossible for me to get every single flight, without error, into this first release. That is why, at 12:00AM EST, I will be creating an official support thread (separate from this one) for the users to notify me of spelling errors, missing flights, flights that shouldn't be listed, new airlines, new flights that have started, or anything else they would be interested in seeing. If the mods have a particular place in mind for said support thread (such as a separate support forum perhaps), please let me know. In the future, I may look to create these for other aircraft and airlines, and that support thread would be the place to make requests.

Thanks for reading this lengthy post, and if you have any questions before the release, please let me know below. I really hope that many of you will use this file, it is free, after all!

Regards, Jeremy Chesney
