July 14, 200520 yr I have a brand new Laptop P4 3.6 Mhz, 2 Giga Ram 2X60 Giga Hd's NVidia 6800 256 Mb(Allienware Area 51M). 17" screen.-------------------------------------------------------------Everythigs works (The rest of my applications) except for FS9.Facts: I applied FS9.1 patch and loaded a few basic addons B737NG 600-900, B767-300 Level D,Flight 1 Bonanza A36, C421, Aeroworks Beech b200 Carenado V35/F33,Cessna 182 RG and Patch.Have not installed any mesh or scenery addons yet.Initially everything worked OK before patch and addon aircraft.Once The patch was applied, and addon planes were installed, all #### broke loose. The Start up of FS9.1 shows for a few miniseconds the opening screen but it inmmediately dissappears. The start up just will not proceed.I blame it all (perhaps erroneously) on the patch and proceeded to unistall it, but I found no unistall .exe in the FS9.1 root, only the read me and a so called backup folder. So I interpreted this as the patch not being really installed or that I got a faulty patch.I removed the Backup older and proceeded to unistall the FS9. BTW all of the aircraft addons and other non FS9 stuff like the Flight 1 Folder, the Aeroworks folder, etc remained in the original FS2004 folder where FS( had resided initially. When the installation was completed the same situation occurred.Upon startup, FS9 shows the opening screen by milliseconds and nothing proceeds.I am about to throw the towel and forget about FS9 flying, after a considerable investment, which is driving me crazy. I have the feeling tha some ow in the registry there are remnants of th initial patch installation, but I do not dare to mess around with the registry.I ran a program called registry expert and this did not find any abnormalities or erros in my registry.I refuse to have to reformat drive C just because of this and would appreciate it very much if you experts can give some hints to help me out.Edmundo Cardenas van Grieken SVMI
July 14, 200520 yr Find FS9.cfg, delete it and then restart the sim. Also, in future ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS reisntall addons one at a time and test the sim before installing the next. Now, you have no idea which, if any, of your addons is causing you this problem.Allcott
July 14, 200520 yr Thanks for the advice on the addons. You are right.I have tried eliminating the FS9.cfg and restarting. It then starts asking for oldmodules (dll's that are not compatible with FS9.If I say NO, the dissaperence act of the opening screen shows up again. If I say YES then the only thing left in the fs9.cfg is that corresponding to [MAIN] and the dissapearance acts repeats itself.Edmundo
July 14, 200520 yr It's one of the addons that is causing the problem. Here's what I'd do. Uninstall everything and delete the FS2004 folder to get rid of any "leftovers" (in the case of the PMDG 737 be sure to use their uninstall program). No need to mess with the registry. When you reinstall things do them one at a time being sure that the sim still runs before installing the next item. This should let you find the problem addon.
