I love the pmdg 777 but it has a Mind of its own, the auto throttle kicks in when ever it wants so I disconnect it but seconds later auto throttle kicks back in

 

If you could help me please that would be great

23 identical threads. Were you going for the record? Always check to see if your thread got started before assuming the message you got meant it didn't.

 

As for the autothrottle, it's doing what it's supposed to do. If it's kicking in when you don't expect it then you may be flying too slow. You could disable it completely by disarming the A/T switch on the MCP, but really it's better to learn how it's supposed to work by following the tutorials and reading the relevant parts of the manual.

Can you please provide more information about exactly what you are doing. How have you setup the FMC and MCP. I presume you have followed the tutorial flights?

The autothrottle interacts with MCP settings, especially when you are using VNAV.  This is true even if the autopilot is not activated.  So it's important to give a very clear description of how everything is setup -- Are you climbing or descending (I take it you are climbing)?  Is the Flight Director (FD) turned on?  What modes are lit up in the MCP?  What modes are showing as active or armed across the top of the PFD?  What, if anything, is showing as your target speed on the MCP and what is showing as the target speed on the upper left of the PFD (which may be determined by VNAV)?  What altitude is set in the MCP?

 

Also, as Kevin mentioned, PMDG wants you to sign your full name in its forums.

My tip is that it happen under decent and you forget to push your throttle stick on YOUR joystick all the way back right before T/D.

 

Menu ---> PMDG Setup ---> Option ---> Simulation ---> Page 2/7 What is A/T Manual overdrive says there Flyinpinappel?

 

• "In hold mode only" means you have to pull back your throttle on your joystick before T/D.
• "Never" means that A/T overdrives what your throttle on your stick says and you don't have to remember that you have to pull back right before T/D (works just like in PMDG 737-NGX).

If you turn of the AT arm switches then it will no longer automatically engage ;-)

 

With the AT arm switches on, the AT will engage anytime with the appropriate mode, each time a new AP mde is selected (by you manually or by Vnav automatically).....it is supposed to do that.

Like if you choose FLCH during a climb after the AT was disengaged....the AT will engage again in SPD mode.

 

An other way to prevent the AT from leading a life of its own, while still having the AT arm switches ON (including its safety protection features) is by selecting AP+AT disengage, FD both off.

Because at that point no AFDC (Autopilot Flightdirector) mode is active and thus no mode changes will occur (unless you push something again ofcourse).
