June 25, 201510 yr All Can I please clarify, is the PMDG GPWS auto callout for 1000 feet is based on the radio altimeter or the barometric altitude? My company's FCOM states "Note: Callouts at 1000 feet and 500 feet are barometric based, and are triggered by the difference between barometric altitude and the landing field elevation. All other callouts in this list are based on radio altitude." I'm away from home so don't have access to the PMDG FCOM. Just wanting to answer a question for a colleague. Thank you in advance. -Peter Stantin

PMDG FCOM agrees with your company FCOM. I've never checked the 500 ft call, but I know the 1000 ft callout in the NGX is based on baro altitude above field elevation. The indicated RA is often not 1000 ft when the callout occurs for this reason.
June 25, 201510 yr From FCOM2 Page 15.20.17 "Callouts at 1000 feet and 500 feet are based on barometric altitude above the landing field elevation; callouts at 2,500 feet, and below 500 feet are based on radio altitude." I got both wrong. Sorry. Michael Cubine
June 25, 201510 yr Author I have actually done a test in the sim and all my 1000ft callouts are happening based on the radio altitude. Anyone from PMDG care to confirm? -Peter Stantin
